  1. Gloin scored this whisky 88 points Expert Senior

The smell I like, especially that the smoke does not kill everything. The taste is quite powerful and pushes with oak, smoke and sharpness on the tongue, all more intense than in the nose. The Agbang increases this. I miss a bit of complexity, but that's offset by intensity. blind tasting
    • Nose
Medium smoke, some vanilla, sweet salted lemon, smoked fish, a hint of oak, all soft and harmoniously connected, no alcohol
    • Taste
The body is light, the onset more powerful, ginger, slightly astringent, tart lemon, now more oak, a touch of sulfur, smoke
    • Finish
Mighty smoke warms the palate, the association of diesel, bitter, but not dominant oak, bitter North German beer, a trace of black tea and a hint of nutmeg.

  2. Helgo scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Nice example that a barrel does not always have to kill and leaves the Brennereicharakter much space to unfold. Despite 56.7% almost not alcoholic at all. Mild oak turns with a slight smoke. Some mint, Ingwar and lemon sorbet. The finish is smooth, medium and slightly dry with marginal smoke! Good product!

  4. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

No typical Bowmore, quite interesting, 70 € for 13 years, SIngle Cask and barrel strength would be OK. But not quite my taste, because I miss the last kick, something that I think is really great.
    • Nose
when pouring a cloud of sausage water escapes, salty, slightly smoky, in the glass: still salt, mineral, fresh, light citrus note, a little bit burnt, + water: fresh peach, smoked (bacon) aroma
    • Taste
fruity on arrival, lemon, orange, peach, then creamy, white chocolate, with salt, some white pepper and light smoke, later dark chocolate
    • Finish
medium to long, milk chocolate, pepper, slight bitterness

  5. Tom na Gruagaich scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

A very successful Bowmore who does not really need water. The wine barrel complements nuances, but noticeable. I like it very much.
    • Nose
Mineral, wet stones, maritime, damp cloth, the typical Bowmore peat, noticeable, but not too strong, with time, a beautiful, fruity sweetness spreads, the wine comes out of the corner, to some citrus and pepper. The water slightly enhances the mineral notes, but otherwise does not change anything striking.
    • Taste
typical maritime Bowmore, some pepper, very spicy, the wine characterizes it in the form of spices and a subtle fruity note. With water, the peat comes to bear more and a certain bitterness adds to the aroma.
    • Finish
Pepper, mint, peat, scorched wood, some wine, Christmas spices, towards the end a little bitter oak.

Another strong Bowmore. The burgundy finish is a great addition to this whisky and does not put a punch on it.

I was initially skeptical because of the light color and because it is "only" a finish (at least 5 years), but was pleasantly surprised. The burgundy barrel is not dominant, but enriches the complexity with subtle nuances. Elegant whisky.
    • Nose
light smoke, wet sandy beach, melted butter (according to the official notes), some alcohol, banana milk, bamboo, vanilla, heathland biscuits, then clearly peach, water pulls him down a bit, pastry, creamy
    • Taste
smoked fruits, mild smoky, physalis, star fruit, getting dry, peppermint chewing gum
    • Finish
Eucalyptus, a bit harsh, the smoke is initially in the background, very little bitterness, late comes smoke again easily

    Cadenhead's Official Tasting Notes:

Nose: Dry smoke, burnt toast, marshmallows and melted butter
Palate: Creamy and grassy, soft pepper and undertones of smoke
Finish: Very oily with smoke, creamy but a developing mint note
