Amazing what development - after almost two years in open half-full bottle of stinging alcohol is gone Deep full sherry aromas rise in the nose and are on the tongue. The finish warms and stays. In addition there are oak and bitter chocolate. Magnificent development.

Tasted the MoS Christmas 2016 dram on Christmas 2017.
Really a festive whisky. Surprisingly, the high alcohol doesn't burn at all. It's nicely balanced, sweet, spicy, cholocate, fruits. all combined nicely as a Christmas pudding.

    Blindtasting:
Mhhh blatant how sweet that is - I think it's really great - so far I know only from Glen Els like that - I kind of tap a sherry cask - I suspect because of the style and the syrupy texture, that he is not that old yet 10yo - 15yo - distillery? lol I can roughly tap the region on Highlands: smile: Leaves me a bit helpless - but he is delicious
    • Nose
grassy sweet, lemon drops, creamy very soft, freshly planed boards of light wood, gentle fine spice development, warms honey with fennel, anise, eucalyptus - with lid he is getting sweeter and getting fatter
    • Taste
strong onset, super honey sweet, oak spices, fresh mint and some pepper, ripe banana, sugar melon, vanilla pudding, subtle non-specific fruity, delicate light woody vegetable bitterness
    • Finish
Palate and finish are very similar, tingling, spicy, intense, medium length - towards the end, it is slightly bitter - not disturbing

X-mas? Fits. But you can also drink well over the rest of the winter.
    • Nose
At first restrained in the nose. Then, after a while, spices are pushing forward: cloves, cinnamon, allspice, pepper. Slightly burnt toast comes along with juicy and fruit-filled gingerbread. Somewhat alcoholic in the nose, but only briefly and not disturbing.
    • Taste
Lots of chocolate, nougat and ground coffee beans at the beginning. Full-bodied and heavy. Orange slices and tangerines (also the juice) give sweetness, which is also supported by notes of honey and brown sugar candy. Less spicy than in the nose, but on the tongue easier logging. The whisky rolls in waves over the tongue and makes it back in the throat again and again really hot. Interesting experience.
    • Finish
Medium long, slightly dry, still very crumbly, with mild spices, oak, milk chocolate and orange purée.

If MoS can do one, then sherry casks. Fits at Christmas, but is now not a high-flyer.
    • Nose
Pure: a little shy at first, honey, caramel and a hint of raisin. Something Kaba. Later more chocolate, orange peel, fresh citrus note. Unusual combination. With water: removes a little more of the sherry, more well matured Bourbon barrel now with vanilla and yellow fruit.
    • Taste
Pure: in contrast to the nose, a lot of aromas, a lot of dark honey, butter on toast, raisins, raspberry jam and chocolate sauce. The alcohol does not hurt, rather creamy mouthfeel. With water: even creamier, Butterzopf with butter and plum jam. Also delicious.
    • Finish
      Medium long, sweet, nutty.
