    Tasted from a sample in two sittings. Strongly influences by the rum maturation, not bad by any measure but rather timid. I was hoping for more, but for about 25 GBP I guess you shouldn’t expect too much. Higher ABV would help!

      Incredibly shy, with evident alcohol. Faintly bourbony, but I also get aspects of rum and even cognac here. Banana and other tropical fruits.

      Pretty good - vanilla, pineapple, toffee, oak tannins. Even a single drop of water has a negative effect. Underpowered at 42%. Mild tropical fruitiness. A somewhat diluted rum - but I would prefer a rum at a similar age to this bottling.

      Short, sweet and rather drying. Not unpleasant but an anti-event.

    Brown sugar, oak, caramel, cherries, slightly burnt toast, hint of rye spices, bitter chocolate. My first foray into Canadian whiskey and not a bad experience at all.

    This blended whiskey has struck a fine balance on the grain ratio. I'm surprised how much is the sweet nose dialled down on the palate to give way to that Canadian rye whiskey character. Not tasting the rum cask influence and it's a mild whiskey with 42%.

    From the brand ambassador, their rum casks are from Lamb's.

    [78-82] Good buy when I've extra money to spend, most whiskey stays within this band.

    A whiff of cherry citrusy and sweetness at first, then a quickly faded away rubbery note. Then some creamy toffee dominated the nose. Some dry rye spices underlay.

    Sweet and spicy to the dry side. The sweetness is towards purple corn instead of yellow corn. Freshly baked rye bread and toasted oak. Faintly fruity.

    F 22
    Mid-short, dry finish. A touch of wood and all spices lingering. A whiff of coconut.

    Sweet butterscotch made even more candied with the rum sugar cane finish, light baking spices, oak, vanilla and a smidge of banana.

    A reasonably complex and interesting nose gives hope for more, but on the palate and on the finish there is too little variety.

      Spiciness and smoked bacon at the beginning, then clearly molasses with a transition to caramel. Bright fruits appear briefly. Later light chocolate and some solvent.

      Spiciness and molasses determine the beginning again. The bright fruits are there. The alcohol is reasonably involved and despite only 42% quite strong.

      The finish is short rather than medium with slight bitterness and molasses.

    Reminds me really of 1,2 rums I had, could blindly confuse them with those, nice thing for the price!

      Interesting nose, a certain maple note can not hide, to the typical Canadian Maggi flair, but behind it actually molasses and rum notes, brown caramel and Hong but as in the rum, not in Americans, some resin and burnt tree bark
    • Taste
      Maple syrup, dark molasses, brown sugar, creme brulee lightly burned only, manuka honey, giant candies (brand), chocolate syrup, resin and oak at the back
    • Finish
      Resin, some bitter oak now dipped in molasses, bitter choco and caramel, medium long
