    Colour:
    Amber
    Nose:
Fruity - dark - delicious! Oranges, smoke, tobacco, furniture polish, salty flavor, smooth wood and farmy notes that keep coming up - subtle, but very good!
    Taste:
Soft and spicy start, then becoming more voluminous. Very spicy, with a lot of tobacco, smoke, peaty hints, red fruit notes, leather, fine herbs, tea, wood, old furniture, wet animal fur and becoming more maritime towards the finish.
    Finish:
Long - spicy, fruity and tangy! Lime, lemon, soft orange in a smoky garment. In addition, tea, fading wood and an unbelievably soft finish.
    Comment:
The nose is here at 92+ points; in the overall result only narrowly failed at the 93 hurdle!

Great cask for sure, my style of whisky, restrained elegance.
    • Nose
Smells old, on stewed white fruits at first. There is definitely some vanilla, possibly some beeswax or light wood varnish?

The fruits grow, mango, orange and pineapple, hint of caramel.

Old, old, old, I love the nose on this.
    • Taste
There is some oak immediately but it is no problem as it is swamped by the wave of fruits the nose hinted at, thick, a little oily but lighter and more delicate than other old Clynelish I have had.

It actually is rather delicate, another great old whisky that caresses the taste buds, Some plum enters the fray towards the end.
    • Finish
Not long, fades a little quicker than I would have wanted.

It is without fault, very balanced. Not too mineral, not too fruity.
    Superb. (03/28/2017)

05/11/2020: second try on this bottle. Always so superb. Everything is superbly balanced and fruity. 92
    • Nose

First puff on candied lemon. It is very beautiful.
We continue with Mirabelle plum jam and syrup peach.
It is saline and mineral. Perfect balance.
Light white peppery on cardamom and lemongrass.
      Dew. Pebble.
      Very light toffee.
    • Taste
      93 93
Very light, a small metallic side (we can exclude the OBE given the bottling date).
Always a lemon and citrus side. Well preserved.
      A little Espelette pepper.
      Very mineral. Pebble, limestone.
    • Finish
      92 92
A little apricot finish. Menthol and mineral.
