  1. malthead-sven scored this whisky 91 points Expert Senior

A whisky that can be asked. It opens late and is really "finely balanced", no fireworks, but subtle and very complex
    • Nose
Lemon, wet scouring cloth, sour cream, even for Bowmore subtle smoke, he generally begins very restrained, roasted aromas, roasted almonds, then sage, an idea of strawberry cake, looks quite mineral, with some water and time is something like crisp duck breast similar to the SMWS Notes, salty-coastal, bubblegum vending machine, smoked and stewed marsh mallows, nachos with cheese in the cinema, the smoke almost disappears
    • Taste
dry and smoky, old dried firewood, extinguished fireplace, dusty, rather soft but full-bodied, silky on the tongue
    • Finish
somewhat oily, figs, the smoke recedes into the background, medium long, the previous impressions can be found again, to a subtle touch of bananas and peach, after a while it warms again in the neck and thus gains in length

  2. Helgo scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Everything is right here. Great Sherry Refill Butt that leaves the character of Bowmore open.

At the beginning a bit closed, needs a time in the glass. The smoke is not too dominant, beautiful interplay of flavors. Happy more!

  3. Bosi scored this whisky 85 points Specialist

A really multi-faceted whisky with a great nose that could almost make you believe in a rum finish. The other components can not quite keep up.
    • Nose
The nose starts wonderfully tropical: rum meets tobacco, blood oranges and citrus fruits. The smoke remains always discreet and in the background. Later, aromas of pickled fruits and honey develop.
    • Taste
In taste, the classic Bowmore smoke of cold ash comes to bear stronger. The whisky is now slightly salty and slightly pepper-hot. Towards the end, the sweetness predominates again: tannins and caramelized fruits.
    • Finish
The long to medium-long finish is characterized by a lasting sweetness. However, the smoke evaporates over time,

    SMWS Tasting Notes

    Colour: Honeycomb gold

    Flavour Profile: Lightly peated

A fascinating sweet smoke greeted the Panel, honey-smoked
chicken with sweet chilli sauce or an oolong smoked duck breast before we
washed it all down with an American cream soda and then finished with poached
pears Belle Helene. The taste neat was sweet perfumed peat smoke and a spicy
tannic heat, combined with phenolic, tarry and tobacco flavours, all
individually extremely powerful, but in combination well balanced like an egg
on a needle point. Water transported us into a wigwam with an open fire place
drying magic mushrooms and eating smoked jerk chicken wings with a spicy
    honey-tamarind glaze.

Drinking Tip: Whilst practising the gymnastics’ needle
