This is another high quality Benrinnes but totally different from the last one I had. You take a gamble from a single cask but this was a winner for me. Not to everyone's taste in can imagine but it hit the spot for me.
    • Nose
When I first put the glass to my nose is could smell singed hair, but you know, not an unpleasant smell I don't think. Lots of toffee, lemon and lime, apricot, short bread biscuit and some grassy notes, well more like a meadow.
    • Taste
A fine white wine, fudge, cinder toffee and more grassy notes. This is quite refreshing, a real summer stunner. There is angel cake, more short bread, butterscotch and a little bit of smokiness. The oak shines through as well throwing in some new leather.
    • Finish
A lovely long finish with lemon zest twist, a hint of liquorice and a touch of smoke on the death.

Really enjoyed this sample from karloff.

Price and presentation is set to not scew the score.

    Intrigued and impressed.
    • Nose
Diving in nose first, the initial impression is "botanical", not floral and not grassy, just green plant, freshly whacked weed.

Then there's a light burnt accent, like balsa wood right before it catches fire.

Fresh citrus, and not poking the nose too deep in the glass I find a very delicate and almost perfumey tropical fruit note.

This is complex, interestingly challenging to the senses, lots of subtle notes in a nice harmony.
    • Taste
A lot more power than the delicate nose tells.

      Quite potent at 48,9%

Rich oily mouthfeel that is lasting, this doesn't turn watery midway.

Thick fudge, brown leather coated with dark sweet chocolate.

Not recognising much of the botanical side though,
    • Finish
Dark chocolate brownie with a cup of turkish coffee, that last sip when you inevitably get some of the bottom "sediments".

A really nice and lasting finish.
