    Conclusion and pictures on: https://tomtrinkt.de
    • Nose
Very voluminous, heavy and multifaceted. The varied game of sweet fruit notes and "heavy" aromas fascinates me immediately. Within less than half an hour, I was able to recognize the following associations: sweet fruits, plums, dates, raisins, figs, juicy oranges, grapefruit (slightly acidic), burnt caramel crust of crème brûlée, milk chocolate, spicy oak, cinnamon, delicate herbal notes and Marzipan. The different flavors are very harmoniously interwoven and exude a high degree of maturity and elegance.
    • Taste
Beautifully oily and silky soft, the BenRiach wets the entire oral cavity. A pleasant sweetness runs along the tongue, while on the tip of the tongue a minimal Pfeffrigkeit sets in and causes a subtle tingle. The alcohol content (46%) is very well integrated and always gives the vulominous malt sufficient strength. Sweet fruits (cherries), overripe peaches, grapefruit (again slightly sour), dates, raisins, plenty of dark chocolate with dark hints, dark forest honey, caramel, some leather and spicy oak notes emerge. The spicy oak intensifies and causes a slight dryness on the palate. The complexity to be anticipated during nosing continues seamlessly in terms of taste. Very beautiful!
    • Finish
Long, voluminous and warming. The sweet fruits as well as the dates, figs and plums finally sparkle with a nice intensity, before the chocolaty and spicy notes gain more and more dominance. Nuts, various spices and wood flavors let the Malt finish prudently. On the palate remains a slight dryness and minimal bitterness.

a really delicious malt that comes so ripe and voluminous that its finish never seems to be set. The ambitious price is partly higher than that of the Ben Riach 25 and I personally prefer these older ones.
    • Nose
a wonderful scent of sweet dates, oranges and apricots, fruity strong acid forms a nice counterpart to the sweetness, oak gives the whole volume, mint and chocolate - everything perfectly balanced, very tasty, seductive - dreamlike
    • Taste
gently it runs on the tongue, no alcohol, oak mildly aromatic, sweetness spreads - plums with cinnamon, apricot jam, oak again with tree juice and slightly cooling on the tongue, light coffee notes, apricots and oak again
    • Finish
slightly cooling mint is on the tongue, oak is clearly noticeable - but not dry, drooling

Just great, complex Malt, which is the age to note, but remains extremely elegant.
    • Nose
      90 90
Grapes, honey, sweet spicy oak, boiled grape jelly with a tiny dash of tonka bean, licorice, including freshly cut, ripe juicy red apples, a hint of cloves is also there.
    • Taste
      91 91
"Fresh sweetness" (think of squeezed fresh sugar cane), wildflower honey, a summer meadow flowers splendor conserved in alcohol, viscous wax, fruit gums in oily form. I like that as a Clynelish fan immensely!
    • Finish
      90 90
Very harmonious, long finish with a balanced interplay of sweetness that keeps your mouth watering and dryness, the great fruity waxy aromas continue for a while. The wood is soft as butter.

Really really good. Absolutely my case. A dreamy nose will be rewarded with an equal palate. 92 points.
    • Nose
The nose is typical sherry. I would even have typed more on PX. Raisins, figs, plums. Very cute. Something aromatic oak. Shortly flashes a herbal mix. Leather is becoming increasingly fermented fruit. It is also becoming increasingly kräutriger. Cocktail cherries.
    • Taste
Full. Sparkling sweetness. The oak now spices properly. Chocolate, raisins. Leather. Dried oranges, a little mulled wine. The Nachschmecken indicates a delicate bitterness. Pineapple.
    • Finish
Sweet and fruity. Milk coffee and pineapple. Some plum.

An extraordinary Benriach. Very unique and for those who love fruity whiskies with a twist; this is for you.
    • Nose
      88 88
Subdued at first, earthy and brooding. Fresh mushrooms, black pepper, and bubbly grape juice. Rather soft overall, and very reminiscent of cognac.
    • Taste
      92 92
Very perfumed, overtly fruity arrival. I must say I have not encountered a more pronounced mixture of raspberry, plum, and blackberry yet. Furthermore, a big infusion of tea leafs and sweetened lime orange juice.
    • Finish
      90 90
Medium. Departs almost with a sensation of carbonated drinks. Blood oranges, mild caramel, and sweet tannins.

    #Blindtasting

A very good Sherrymalt, the somewhat generic Notes do him wrong, he is just very prototypical. He screams Glenfarclas, 46%, or just 43%. 25 years, rather refill sherry. And delicious.
    • Nose
Beautiful sherry notes, dried fruit, a slightly sour fruitiness, strong, but nicely integrated oak, I type Refill. Clean mature sherry nose.
    • Taste
Fruit in the mouth, but not very sweet, beautiful dry oak, cloves, pepper, spices.
    • Finish
The finish is characterized by dry sherry and tart oak, dark chocolate.

It's amazing what rates 100 these days. If this is a new benchmark of what a great whisky is the world is indeed going to hell in a hand-basket.

I can understand why some would like this as it is not a bad dram, but for $320cnd (regular retail price which I didn't not pay, thank goodness), it's fools gold. IMHO. It's way over priced for what it is.

From nose to finish it really feels like the favours are all stunted to a degree.
    • Nose
      83 83
Faint and thin dark fruit, not too much else that really jumps out and somewhat underwhelming. It's a real struggle ti get much on the noise.
    • Taste
      83 83
Muted dried fruits and quite bitter. Almost no sweetness, not that I look for it it just seems to be missing to some degree. I also found it kinda thin on the mouth, I may have expected too much based on many that stated a "thick mouth" feel, but not for me with this.
    • Finish
      80 80
Dry fruits and drying bitterness that lingers. I found the bitterness just too long with not much else to counter the off notes of this.

I really struggled with this one and it re enforces my general opinion that wine finishes are something I should stay away from.
    • Nose
      73 73
I detect very little on the nose with this apart from a little black currant?
This is really closed after a little time there is some ripe plum and jam notes but its one dimensional in some respects.
    • Taste
      82 82
There is a battle from the start between the sweet dark fruits and a drying bitterness.
The bitterness is really noticeable to me but I am sensitive to bitterness in whisky.
There is a mass of dark fruits and some mulled wine notes and the sweetness is trying to get out but is pegged back by something
    • Finish
      83 83
The finish has a sweet tail but again the drying slight bitterness spoils everything
