Whisky Reviews for Arran 2000 SMWS 121.95

3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 83.09 points

  1. Calmar scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

Molt is very young, not completely decorated, with harsh, not very pleasant bitter knitting, the flavor is most interesting and well formed, the taste / finish is rugged and rivet, but it should be noted, at the same time, dense and saturated.
    • Nose
Restrained, dry, first nose - freshly cut wood, green grass; processed boards, light sweet-cream notes, mineral-metallic hues, dried fruit, grain.
    • Taste
A rich, slightly sharp, fresh oak, peppery wave, light astringent notes, wood dust, cardboard, corn,
    • Finish
Fresh, sharp, oak, bark, tablet notes, grain,

  2. Allandale scored this whisky 86 points Connoisseur

Spicy and sweet  this Arran. A welcome bottling. Complex.

    Absolute  worth the money.
    • Nose
Caught honey, toffee and brown sugar , sweetness like sherbet lemon but also hints of wood.
    • Taste
Fruity like : citrus, lemon and then something of ginger tea, also found orange zest, lime and cooked apples? Lovely sweetness. Honey appears again.
    • Finish
Woody spices, added water : all kind of sweetness, orange blossom, like a meadow in the spring: flower meadows, hay, but also butterscotch and almond. Spicy and sweet. Just lovely.

  3. mandragoru did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

SMWS tasting notes:After fourteen years in bourbon, we transferred this to a second-fill Sauternes hogshead. Our noses caught honey, toffee and brown sugar sweetness; sherbet lemon and cocktail glass lime; also polished wood (chemist-shop counter?). Zingy citrus dominated the palate – lemon and ginger tea, orange zest, lime and cooking apples – with just enough honey to keep it agreeable; woody spices played in the finish. Subtle floral notes appeared on the reduced nose – orange blossom, flower meadows, cut hay; still holding crunchy nut cornflakes, butterscotch and almond paste sweetness. The reduced palate tingled our tongues pleasantly – citric, salty, spicy and sweet – an enjoyable combination.

DRINKING TIP: Early afternoon – in the garden or on the deck of your yacht.
