Whisky Reviews for BenRiach 15-year-old Tawny Port

5 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 85.95 points

  1. Ostap scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

    The nice fragrant aroma changes to an acceptable taste and limps in the aftertaste (too much dryness and oak).
    • Nose
      85 85
      Enveloping, friendly, rich wine, port read, dessert, honey, burnt sugar, vanilla, canned peach, sweet boiled corn, velvety dust, rose petals, bay leaf, candied berries, oak, cherry, tsyupid fruit jelly , dried fruits (frankly compote). Over time, it becomes saturated, like a herbal tincture, with wormwood.
    • Taste
      84 84
      Sourness, honey, pepper, light meat note, nut, fragrant spices.
    • Finish
      82 82
      Quite short, peppery, very dry, to the brim, sweet and sour berries, cherry branches, tea, a bunch of oak. Weak and indistinct.

  3. diamond2000 scored this whisky 86 points Expert Junior

    Aroma: thick, wine-berry, plums and berries, sun-dried in the sun, ripe chestnuts, dried apricots, dark raisins, extra dark chocolate, brown cane sugar, moist wood, very sweet-liqueur.

    Taste: prunes, thick black currant jam, black chocolate, bitter espresso, fruit tree resin, wood tannins; sweetness is balanced by woody tannins and pleasant bitterness.

    Finish: medium duration, dark dried berries and plums, dark chocolate, some chemicals and wood.

    Rating: 86

    Bottom line: a good porto-finish, so to speak, for their lover, the finish itself was probably quite long, because you don’t really feel the bourbon derivatives. I liked him a little more than Glenmoranzhievskoy Kvinty Ruban, although there is very good work there!

    Good finish, a good malt!

    [Color] dark copper;
    • Nose
      dark fruits (plum compote), spices (cinnamon, strong oak), sweetness;
    • Taste
      full, warm, fruity unfolding, spice, oak, sour cherries, juicy plums, berries, pepper;
    • Finish
      medium-length, sweet, dry finish;

  5. Xaver did not rate this whisky Expert Senior

    • Nose
      Sweet, red berries. Cherries, plums, rum-raisins, moist tobacco, vanilla, slight touch of glue. With time in the glass, the fruits appear more mature. In the background I still find something fresh and a spicy pepper note.
    • Taste
      Mild entrance. Then some sour cherry and freshness. Has something of Wick-sour cherry cough sweet. Now the colleague spreads and shows what he has. The ripe berries, plum, the pepper. Nice and fat malty. Full, juicy mouthfeel.
    • Finish
      Medium. Sour cherry with espresso and subtle pepper.
