Note by Feinschmecker Single Cask Whisky Edition 2016 - Tullibardine 2006 (Bordeaux Hogshead), 57.1 Vol .-%

    Tasting notes:
COLOR: pale copper with light brown reflections NOSE: Strange five-o'clock tea idyl - to tender Darjeeling's there is the exceptionally "poshe" version of a Mars bar lightly salty caramel, not too bright milk chocolate with grape-jelly filling, next to a well-meaning soul has a few crashing -fixed pears (almost Glenfiddich-esk!) and open a window, on the rain-wet wooden frame a warm afternoon sun shines. TASTE: salt caramel , bitter orange, a delicate touch of dark stone mushrooms - umami at its best. Later then Aachener Pfümli en passant, the fruit goes, spice comes (and remains: cinnamon, clove, allspice and pepper finely dosed), dark chocolate. FINISH: Medium long , spicy (Cabernet Sauvignon to franc?), Slightly ethereal notes, and the "fine-grained tannins" cited in wine descriptions - delicately astringent, overall very nice grip. CONCLUSION: Very successful seminar in finishing! Undiluted surprisingly "vinous" to "wine-spicy" without any intrusiveness and so not made up - invites, handy as he is, to intensive employment.

  4. Robert Parker scored this whisky 90 points Expert Junior

Great Malt, 10 years full maturation in the quite active Bordeaux Hogshead show effect. As I'm always curious about wine maturation, it definitely hits my taste. Of course, one must be receptive to the abundant influence of red wine casks in the whisky context, with the accompanying dryness and flavor notes described. If that is given you will be happy with this drop to the course of 79 €. With only 90 bottled bottles, the stock is not very persistent.
    • Nose
The red wine is right there. The intensity of the barrel becomes immediately clear at first sniffing. At first you should not put your nose too deep in the snifter, as the cask strength of 57.1% is otherwise noticeable. Rich, ripe red fruits dominate - grapes and currants stand out. This is accompanied by a nice creaminess. The whole thing is surrounded by a harmonious spice. A malt, where I could breathe an eternity, there goes my heart for whiskys with wine influence on!
    • Taste
The 57.1% push the range of spices right forward and leave a peppery note on the tongue, but without alcoholic sharpness or the like. This is followed by a potpourri of red fruits and the creaminess of the nose looks through again. Can the malt swim? Absolutely! With a few drops of water comes more sweet, more red fruit. Invites to experiment.
    • Finish
The ripe grapes are on the palate, the tongue is mainly occupied by the wort. He warms wonderfully. The finish is present and quite persistent.
