    EYE / NOSE
Brownish, very slightly reddish impact. A malty-sweet-seeming, undoubtedly a little smoky aroma wafted out of the nosing glass. Special the mild smoke gives the BANF a pleasant depth in the nose. Grassy, barely fruity. Sweetness that makes me think of maple syrup rather than sugar or honey. After some time, at least a few local fruits, most likely pears, bright grapes and yellow apples.

    PALATE
A gentleman of the old school, one might say in the figurative sense. Very round, very elegant, n. The flavors of the nose are also reflected on the palate. Everything fits, everything is tasty. Very confident and distinguished, no aromatic missteps. Especially with only 40% ABV our Banff for my taste pleasantly strong and across the breadth as tasty as convincing. There is nothing watery here. Delicious!

    FINISH / CONCLUSION
Medium long, warm finish. A very round, self-contained malt that goes just as elegant as it seemed to be in the nose at the very beginning. Twenty-three years in the oak tree and another twenty-two years in the bottle have, from my point of view, also helped to eradicate mistakes as far as possible. I am still an avowed supporter of the idea of bottle aging. Although in Scotland officially like to announce other things on the subject.
Criticism? If I really want to complain about something, a few more rough edges would perhaps suit our test person quite well, then a really good one might even have become really big.

Mild finish and a bit short. Wish it was bit longer

Opportunity to taste this again today (August 3rd, 2019) with similar results with the addition of some gentle smoke in finish. All other notes remain the same.
    • Nose
Mustard, apple, honey, vegetal notes, mild grass note, hint of camphor
    • Taste
Apple, tropical fruits, grassy, touch of smoke, jelly bean
    • Finish
Hint of pepper, sour candies, honey, light note of cut grass
