Whisky Reviews for Ballechin 2004

- It's a pretty grotesque stuff, but I like it. :)
Complex. Wood smoke, earth and peat. Camphor, antique skin, salted caramel, cocoa and BBQ sauce. Forest fruits.
Powerful. Honey sweet sherry, peat, and bitter tannic oak. Pepper and ginger. Plum jam chocolate. Eucalyptus and candied orange peel.
Long, bittersweet, spicy, ashy.
- Quite a heavy slap in your face dram. Thick in the smoke in the sherried water. Also somewhat meaty... or is it more like a BBQ sauce with some Ketjap Manis? Anyway, not your everyday dram, but very much to my liking.
- Very spicy, big and not your every day dram, still a dram to remember.
Leather, dates and raisins are warmed next to a good bonfire. Big and bold peaty with forest fruits. This drams opens quickly a hide no secrets, apart from some hard to describe notes? Lots of spices and perhaps some BBQ sauce.
A bit aggressive, as if the peat and sherry sweetness are fighting each other to find out which side is dominant. The peat will remain, but the sweet and syrupy cask influence wins. Chocolate covered oranges and coffee. Again lots of spices like cinnamon and vanilla with hazelnuts.
Bitter dark chocolate, spicy tea, cherry and a fair amount of oak.
Light smoke, peat and some fruit.
Starts with some raisin and sherry. Smoke does not come out so strongly. Fruity. Oil comes to me strongly.
It is long with mainly fruit tones.
