Had the first half of this sample blind, and it really stumped me. Can’t remember my guess, but it wasn’t close and I guessed bourbon cask as well. I did however really like it.
It’s got an old school nose. That is to say fat and honeyed; really like that. Ginger and saline. Fruits are apricot and pear predominantly. A little kiwi even. A touch floral too, just a touch, meadow flowers or something of the like.
Palate is thick, chewy, honeyed. Caramel, marzipan, rose water? Fruits aren’t quite as yellow here, going towards more citrus fruits, orange, peach pit, perhaps lime? Bright and fresh with a bit of a dusty edge.
Salt and white pepper, drying oak. Fresh. A bit simple here, but everything is in balance.
