A large peat, oily, but defined, complex, powerful.
Very good octomore, with enormous concentration.
    • Nose
      88 88
Nose on oily peat, phenol, ash.
      Graphite, lemon, light basil.
      Dried herbs, pot pourri.
    • Taste
      89 89
In the mouth we are in the continuity of the nose.
      Lemon, yuzu, zest
      Ash, oily peat.
The alcohol is violent, a little water helps calm everything.
    • Finish
      88 88
Long finish on citrus fruits, cold ash, oily peat.

    Color: straw yellow
Nose: Fresh aromas with peaty smoke, vanilla, lemon cream and delicate, chocolate-like liquorice aromas. Here the "dark" side is much less pronounced than on 06.1. Tiramisu, cocoa, butter, malty grain, citrus fruits (orange and pineapple) make a great combination with the strong peaty smoke.
Taste: Sweet peat, wood, chocolate, liquorice and herbs, which are provided with a lot of salty spice. In addition, sweet honey, orange and pineapple juice, chilies and a lot of black pepper. Becoming increasingly peaty-smoky and with distinctive rum notes towards the finish.
Finish: Super long - after the slightly alcoholic tips have been broken down, this Octomore is excellent on the palate. The taste goes almost seamlessly into the finish: chocolate, mocha, fine liquorice, cocoa, vanilla, tender wood, orange peel and very peaty, cold smoke - great!
Note: Our best Octomore so far!
    90 points (nose: 90 / taste: 90 / finish: 91)

My note bugged and did not register.
Basically it is mainly peat, cold ashes and tobacco. Very strong in alcohol.
On the palate and in the finish, we have a little citrus but it's light.
Really for fans of the profile. I do not like it more than that.

Still not a very big fan of these high octane Octomores. They’re just too ashy and alcoholic for my personal taste despite the hints of vanilla, burnt coffee and chocolate that are clearly traceable. I guess that I’m not the biggest fan of these peat monsters. I prefer peated whiskies with lower ABV and more sherry influence such as the Lagavulin D.E. or Ardbeg peat + sherry combo (Uigeadail, Ardbog). More punchy (dark) fruit notes and less peat. This is too “straight in your face” for me and almost a “love it or hate it” whisky in my opinion.
