Whisky Reviews for Nikka NAS

- This is the second Nikka whisky I have had and they have both been of a high standard. Definitely on my wish list for more of their range.
- One of the three bottles my mate fetched me back from Japan and it was the best one.
Aaahhh! like a fresh spring morning on the beach when the tide is out and you are picking Whelks, with new oak and smoke in the air it is brought down to earth by a whiff of turps.
Really smooth and refreshing with Hot cross bun covered in cinnamon, other spices dance around the peat and the cough sweet fisherman's friend.
A long fresh minty finish with a bit of malt on the finish. Excellent.
- always a pleasure to return, it is simple, but almost flawless;
sweet spices, malt, hardened wood, orange fruits, some light smoke
one of the most posed assemblages, simple, effective, complex and well integrated scents, caramel sweetness, vanilla, various orange fruits, smoked oak (as integrated together!)
final long enough, monolithic, but intense as a candy!
- N: Predictably clean & modern with a standard honey nose and like a Speysider.
T: Good peppery arrival with a honey/silk development and pleasing mouthfeel.
F: Honeyed grain finish, like a sweet Spey
C: Good ‘international’ quality [for now] and considerably cheaper [£40 Jun ’15] than the 10yo WB WF [£70 Jun ’15] but don’t come here for idiosyncrasy.

Tasted 2014-04-20 @ Kristian:
Slightly spicy in the taste, prominent oak note, yet sweetish, slightly floral and full-bodied.
- altogether good 74
Soft and creamy with fruit, cinnamon, hot spices oak, pepper, malt, light peat and smoke.
Lively, fresh and incredible harmonies. Soft as honey, with nuts, toffee, vanilla, licorice, burnt oak and a bit of peat.
Bold with long notes of salt, malt, orange, nuts and oak.
