...and this is an average-quality modern sherry maturation. It is easy quaffable but of a limited complexity, I had a lot much better Glendronach drams from that period and I would not spend more than 120 Euro on a bottle of such drinking quality.

The colour is russetmuscat and the nose offers a modern sherry profile which is rather shy first. After some breathing it open up but just a little bit, still it is somewhat contained and not very expressive. This nose cries for water and indeed it opens up after a fair share added. Now the malt aromas are identifiable too but the profile stays rather simple.

The taste is dominated by the modern sherry flavours but still the Glendronach malt is recognisable and adds fine impressions of barley sugars, fruits and waxes. The wood is a little bitter but this is a nice counterpart to the sweet wine in this setting. All in all the taste is flawless but not overly complex and provides the typical joys of a modern sherry maturation - easy quaffable with limited exploration potential. So relax, lean back and simply enjoy this dram.

The initial mouthfeel is hot and coating with some peppery moments. The finish is long and turns more to the winey side with a bitter-drying ending (tannins at work). Water opens up the nose but turns both taste and finish rather bitter which I do not like, I prefer the neat dram.
