Whisky Reviews for Port Charlotte 2004

- Nice bottling, the nose is comparable to a lot of other sherried PC's in this particular age range. The taste and finish however stand out for me in this one.
Campfire smoke, piccalilly, caramel and toffee sweetness, some varnish, smoked and salted ham, mocha and peanut
Peat smoke, black pepper, coffee and cream, cocoa, sweet prunes, salted liquorice and a little charcoal.
Very long and lingering: a clear mocha note, salted liquorice, charred oak wood and black pepper.
- Another excellent Private Bottling PC.
Tasting notes from july 2017.
Typical peaty sherry. Smoky, meaty and leathery. Ripe fruits. Whiffs of ashes and hay.
With aeration, the ripe fruits are more present : prunes, plums, figs.
Continuity of the nose with the smoked meat and fruits. There are some spices too and coffee. With water : more sherry notes plus coastal notes on the nose, more fruity sweetness on the palate.
Long, smoky. The meat and fruits are lingering.
