TASTING NOTE LMDW "Neither quite the same, nor quite another ..." wrote the poet. Very close to an organoleptic point of view of the Nikka Coffey Grain Single Cask # 112093 of this same collection, this version is at the same time very different in the way it has to advance its olfactory and taste arguments. This play of influence with subtle shades is a pretext for a Homeric fight whose protagonists win by turns. Profile: racy, the nose is spicy (white pepper), fruity (brugnon) and camphor. Corn and malted barley compete intensively. Full of exoticism, it precedes a vanilla and slightly burned mouth. The finish is deliciously floral (carnation, iris). As time goes by, the corn reveals all its sweetness. Nose: lively, powerful. With a remarkable freshness, the first nose restores unctuous notes of corn and vanilla. Shortly after, malted barley and its herbaceous tones complete this particularly cereal table. It evolves dynamically on spices (pepper, cinnamon, ginger), heady flowers (honeysuckle, freesia), candied citrus (lemon, grapefruit) and coconut. Palate: straight, elegant. At first, a fine honeyed liquor spreads on the palate flavors of linden, mint and apricot. With its notes of exotic fruits (pineapple, persimmon), marmalade, quince jelly and spices (saffron, cardamom), the mid-palate is nobly tangy. With time, it becomes more and more spicy and heady (lily, iris). Finale: long, creamy. Perfect synthesis of the nose and mouth, it turns out to be exotic, spicy, vanilla and herbaceous. Its toasted oak gradually takes possession of the palate and it is elegantly extended to candied oranges, toasted almonds and toffee. Saline, the retro-olfaction is marked by notes of butterscotch and leather. Balsamic, the empty glass takes us to cool off in the shade of a pine forest.
