This Bruichladdich is very special and unusual. A musty moder overlays the complete tasting. This idiosyncratic Laddie loves or hates him. It's love for me. As already mentioned, unusual but delicious!
    • Nose
Dark berries dominate the first impression, then the nose flattens suddenly. A musty and musty note is produced, fermented fruits are in the sun. A maritime breeze rises from the muff. For a moment, tart fruit flares up, then the nose picks up speed. Chocolate, syrupy sugar beets, plums and spicy oak suddenly explode, a wet leather note, a pinch of salt and spicy, meringue wood are added. Muffiges flavor and fermented fruits zealous for the bet.
    • Taste
Muffiges and yet very spicy wood give the beginning of the first sip really gas. Modriges and old wood develop a salty sharpness. Some caramel and sweetness are there, but are immediately overlaid by the musty scent. Tart and sharp oak mixes with iodine and salt. A light nut flavor finishes the taste.
    • Finish
Sharpness and salt dominate the beginning of the departure. Tart wood notes and wet walnuts become musty. Again moder moderates. A heavy fruit note ends in tough syrup, a touch of leather and tobacco flashes. Slowly, the unusual flavors come to an end.

    Notes dated 16.01.2019:
In the nose a strong, complex bouquet of aromas with notes of figs, dates, coffee and leather, but does not look set.
On the palate explodes then a massive sherry bomb with the typical notes. Of the distillery character here is of course no more recognizable me, that could just as well be a Bunnah, Glendronach or whatever. But that does not bother me, the malt is just fun! Partly because the texture is extremely creamy and velvety, although the high alcohol content naturally does not go unnoticed.
In the end, I am rewarded with an extremely long finish of tannins.
    A lacy malt!

Unfortunately, in my view, a bit too expensive. Very cute, quality is ok, but not very complex.

  6. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

A beautiful barrel, of course, there is nothing left of Laddie, because nobody can tell me anything else.
    • Nose
Black cherries, but I also recognize fine sulfur, autumn leaves, raisins, prunes, dates, musty potting soil, finest leather, liquorice sauce, currants, dark aromas everywhere, not the most open whisky, but a very deep
    • Taste
Fine dark chocolate, then directly in dark honey dipped black cherries, potting soil, dark raisins, plums, dates, licorice, currants, Cremé de Cassis, does not at all to strength, but it has no real alcohol, only a subtle muscat and black pepper sharpness , Plfaumenmuß, to end cinnamon and rustic oak, but still halfway discreet
    • Finish
Warm, quite dry, but with the sweetness of the plum must, but with ginger pieces in it, nutmeg, liquorice, dark chocolate, long

Nose: berries, cherries and leather, then the alcohol stands out. With some time he is gone and the whisky explodes in a variety of flavors; Plums in musty soil, salted raisins, oranges with currant jelly, dusty oak cabinet coated with chocolate .... great
Palate: It starts peppery and with lots of old leather. The fruits mix in a boiled, sweet Mus. The oak pushes powerfully and it becomes nutty. With some water: Oily, musty earth, warm plum jam, walnut cake.
Finish: Eternally long with raisins in dark chocolate and an English leather chair
Conclusion: A fruit bomb with aroma abundance. Needs time and in my opinion a big glass. You can play well with water, he thanks you if you take your time. A little dream and something for lovers of dirty little sherry bombs, this time from Islay, unsung. 90 points (getting better every time ...)

Brilliant whisky. And another nice bottle of MBI.
    • Nose
Great sherry. Banana and caramel. Freshly polished antique leather.
    • Taste
Powerful. Sherry. Coffee and chocolate. Raisin wine.
    • Finish
      Long, oily, spicy
