This Bruichladdich is very special and unusual. A musty moder overlays the complete tasting. This idiosyncratic Laddie loves or hates him. It's love for me. As already mentioned, unusual but delicious!
    • Nose
Dark berries dominate the first impression, then the nose flattens suddenly. A musty and musty note is produced, fermented fruits are in the sun. A maritime breeze rises from the muff. For a moment, tart fruit flares up, then the nose picks up speed. Chocolate, syrupy sugar beets, plums and spicy oak suddenly explode, a wet leather note, a pinch of salt and spicy, meringue wood are added. Muffiges flavor and fermented fruits zealous for the bet.
    • Taste
Muffiges and yet very spicy wood give the beginning of the first sip really gas. Modriges and old wood develop a salty sharpness. Some caramel and sweetness are there, but are immediately overlaid by the musty scent. Tart and sharp oak mixes with iodine and salt. A light nut flavor finishes the taste.
    • Finish
Sharpness and salt dominate the beginning of the departure. Tart wood notes and wet walnuts become musty. Again moder moderates. A heavy fruit note ends in tough syrup, a touch of leather and tobacco flashes. Slowly, the unusual flavors come to an end.

Not exactly my case. Not totally wrong either, but I'm not convinced. Nose and finish are rather meager. The taste is concise. But I'm not sure if I like it in this form. But I probably won't find out with this bottling. Full review (german): https://keinehalbendrinks.de/2020/11/10/bruichladdich-so-wie-sie-kommen/

    Notes dated 16.01.2019:
In the nose a strong, complex bouquet of aromas with notes of figs, dates, coffee and leather, but does not look set.
On the palate explodes then a massive sherry bomb with the typical notes. Of the distillery character here is of course no more recognizable me, that could just as well be a Bunnah, Glendronach or whatever. But that does not bother me, the malt is just fun! Partly because the texture is extremely creamy and velvety, although the high alcohol content naturally does not go unnoticed.
In the end, I am rewarded with an extremely long finish of tannins.
    A lacy malt!

Unfortunately, in my view, a bit too expensive. Very cute, quality is ok, but not very complex.

  10. LiquidThoughts scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

A beautiful barrel, of course, there is nothing left of Laddie, because nobody can tell me anything else.
    • Nose
Black cherries, but I also recognize fine sulfur, autumn leaves, raisins, prunes, dates, musty potting soil, finest leather, liquorice sauce, currants, dark aromas everywhere, not the most open whisky, but a very deep
    • Taste
Fine dark chocolate, then directly in dark honey dipped black cherries, potting soil, dark raisins, plums, dates, licorice, currants, Cremé de Cassis, does not at all to strength, but it has no real alcohol, only a subtle muscat and black pepper sharpness , Plfaumenmuß, to end cinnamon and rustic oak, but still halfway discreet
    • Finish
Warm, quite dry, but with the sweetness of the plum must, but with ginger pieces in it, nutmeg, liquorice, dark chocolate, long

Nose: berries, cherries and leather, then the alcohol stands out. With some time he is gone and the whisky explodes in a variety of flavors; Plums in musty soil, salted raisins, oranges with currant jelly, dusty oak cabinet coated with chocolate .... great
Palate: It starts peppery and with lots of old leather. The fruits mix in a boiled, sweet Mus. The oak pushes powerfully and it becomes nutty. With some water: Oily, musty earth, warm plum jam, walnut cake.
Finish: Eternally long with raisins in dark chocolate and an English leather chair
Conclusion: A fruit bomb with aroma abundance. Needs time and in my opinion a big glass. You can play well with water, he thanks you if you take your time. A little dream and something for lovers of dirty little sherry bombs, this time from Islay, unsung. 90 points (getting better every time ...)

Nose: caramel (slightly burnt), a hint of smoke and water from the harbor, chocolate mousse, wood wax, barely any fruit - if that's the case in the direction of sulphurised raisins, dusty wood and oak. Really great - looks much older than the 10 years, even if I would like to have had a little more fruit for such a dark sherry broth.
Taste: scolded too soon - now comes the full sherry and fruit cargo. Grapes, dates and raisins in the chocolate coat, thick, creamy and sweet spreads in the mouth. A touch of sulfur and smoke give it something special. The oak makes itself noticeable with beautiful coffee notes in the finish and offers with its spicy Nussigkeit a nice counterpoint to the sweet Sherry - better a Sherrywhisky in the age not be in the taste!
A very successful and quite strong coveted jubilee bottling from Maltman. For me the whisky of autumn / winter 2016!

    • Nose
Sherry, fermented grapes, dry white wine. Shoe polish, sugar beet syrup, black beer. Chocolate, raisins, cashews.
    • Taste
Stone oven bread with honey. Some pepper. Then cocoa, dark chocolate, espresso and moldy wood.

A very nice and tasty dram bottled by The Maltman to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Alba Import.

    Concerning price/performance ratio: 8/10
    • Nose
Sweet thick sherry nose. Caramel, raisins, marzipan, Laddie smoke, furniture polish, old leather, gingerbread.
    • Taste
Sweet thick sherry on the palate. Leather, coffee and chocolate, salty smoke, almonds, sligthly dry.
    • Finish
Medium. Dark chocolate, spices, roasted almonds, grilled salmon, gingerbread.

Anniversary bottlings are, at least if they are not completely overpriced, usually a great thing, because the dealers usually seek out particularly appealing barrels and offer them to a fair course, because after all, the customers celebrate and the "special" bottlings under no circumstances to become storekeepers , On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, Alba Import has aptly chosen, among others, this 10-year-old Laddie, whom I am very much looking forward to. He is miles away from the shop keeper, so much in advance! Eye / Nose: Visually, basically only an Oloroso or a PX comes into consideration. The nose looks surprisingly rather modest shortly after pouring and brings the scent of an old chest of drawers. Dried polish, damp wood, ancient dust. With every passing minute in the air he becomes the Laddie more intense and fresher. After only a few minutes, the Muff is history. Toffifee and raisins take over the direction or more generally formulated, caramel notes and dry fruits. No orange fruit, no acetone - I would put my money on PX if I had to. Palate: creamy on the tongue. Slow-melting grape nut chocolate. Caramelized almonds. Some smoke, very little sulfur. In short, that's a very tasty combination on the tongue! Finish / Conclusion: Medium long, drier finish that reminds me a little of Kirsch's "Just Good Whisky". Must be the type of sulfur notes. Slight smoky touch in the finish, not untypical for Laddies from this period. The palate is the strongest Maltman. The, with the appropriate rest, as intense as fresh nose follows, and the finish is for my taste at best, by the emerging sulfur a little affected. Even the sulfur knows how to please in the overall picture, even if the slightly fruity and pastry-like character of the Laddie distillery character, as so often, was sacrificed on the altar of the 'Heavy Sherry'.

At a cost of 75 EUR a Malt with good PLV for today's conditions! Very tasty and full! He looks older than he is, but in my opinion, he should not have been much older. I like it.
    • Nose
Very nice color. The aroma is already in the room before I swing the glass for the first time. The first nose already shows a wealth of creamy, heavy sherry aromas, which are carried by the alcohol. The flies but very fast. Full, sweet fruity, overripe fruits, caramel, cinnamon, minimal Ladie smoky notes somewhere discreetly in the background, sultanas and nuts, very slightly earthy-musty but very pleasant, ripe plums, pastries covered with chocolate, marzipan, later older barrel influences, Leather and tobacco. Really a very nice nose. Tight, full, fruity creamy and sweet.
    • Taste
oily, full, sweet and very fruity, at the same time powerfully spicy, caramel, overripe fruits, honey, leather, coffee, some sulfur, dark currant, slightly salty
    • Finish
spicy oak, dark chocolate, warming, licorice, slightly musty-sulphurous in the background, coffee, getting drier, honey, a few red sour fruits, these little sweet mini-bananas, roasted aromas

  23. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 89 points Connoisseur

It's really fun on all levels!
    • Nose
typical of Laddie, a very dense nose, creamy, caramel, sweet fruit, raisins, slightly rum, moist tobacco, hazelnuts, almonds towards marzipan, also a musty note, rotten grass, Dextro Engen with raspberry flavor, the heavy nutty caramel notes übwerwiegen
    • Taste
oily and creamy, straight sweet, very light sulfur, raspberry jam, toasted nuts, espresso, caramel, beautiful fruity, dark currant juice, nicely intense
    • Finish
nutty, pleasantly relaxing, warming, still sweet red fruit with a dry undertone of roasted coffee
