Nose: quite "dark" compared to the Journeyman Last Feather Rye and Featherbone Bourbon; plums, figs, raisins drenched in rum and wood. Alcohol remains very present. Some citrusy tones in the background.
Taste: feisty & woody, but full mouthfeel at first. Prickly at the sides and tip of the tongue, and there are the wooded raisins again. Then slightly astringent, and some orange zest.
Finish: slightly drying, orange zestiness lingering, hint of caramel fudge. Overall lingers on for quite a long time.
Dark in the nose, but more citrusy in the taste and finish. Overall a bit too punchy and woody to make it a high score.
25-points score: Nose: 21 / Taste: 21 / Finish: 21 / Balance: 20.
Tasted 05/03/2019 in a Journeyman Distillery line-up.
