Nose: spirity, fruity, pear drops, vanilla, boiled sweets (like the red ones that came with pear drops?), hint of damp hessian emerges, some richer fruit notes suggestive of dry sherry.Taste: big rush of alcohol carries fruit notes. Sweet but thin, drying - pleasing bitter notes, great finish with vanilla, subtle oak spices, some rich biscuity shortbread and fino sherry. With water: 2 teaspoons to 25ml – tamed! (it will take more) Balance of pear and almond tart. Pears dipped in damp soil! Becomes sweeter. Intense vanilla custard, toffee, still with a fruity edge of pear drops.
... and more pear drops which roll into linseed oil and fresh putty. good complexity and a dynamic nose, which deserves full attention and not rushing.
A malt definitely worth exploring in my opinion.
