  2. peatbogger scored this whisky 80 points Specialist

    • Nose
      Maritime Islay peat.

Higher alc is noticable, but still feels less than 57.

      Earthy, vegetal, with some fruityness.
    • Taste
Not extreme in any way, actually quite gentle.

The peat has some rubbery notes and some dry soot.
    • Finish
      Medium lenght.

      Peat lingering for some time.

Dying on sweet caramel and dark chocolate.

  3. Robinzon25 scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Conclusion: a simple, very smoky whiskey, fully justifying its name "Peat Chimney" - a peat pipe. Rating: 84 (n21, t20, f21, b22)
    • Nose
Aroma: very smoky, with a high content of pepper, iodine, lemon peels, as well as medical shades (bandages, rubber gloves, tablets).
    • Taste
Taste: sweet-smoky, pleasantly scalding, with a good amount of spicy spices.
    • Finish
Finish: long, enveloping, phenolic, slightly salty, iodine, with shades of black pepper and Borodino bread.

Peat Chimney, Batch Strength, Wemyss Malts, 57%
Category: Blended Malt Bottler: Wemyss Malts Bottling serie: Limited Edition Bottled: 2016 Casknumber: Batch 001 Number of bottles: 6000 Founder and co-owner of the company Wimyss Malts, count - William Wims, says that in this whiskey the phenolic content is 12 PPM (malt measuring), but I would not trust this information. It's unclear how they could measure this parameter in malt if the blend consists of purchased alien spirits and foreign, already aged whiskey. In my opinion, this value is greatly understated.
