    Blenders Glass.
Dram in honor of the resumption of the work of the legendary Brora.
Not at all like modern releases.
    Balance: 22
    Total: 89
    • Nose
Nose: ripe juicy pears, melon, pineapple, citrus fruits, a pinch of allspice, wax candles on a dusty wardrobe 23
    • Taste
Taste: oh, what a pity that it was reduced ... sour (in a good sense), lemon zest, green apple peel, waxy 22
    • Finish
Finish: long-lasting, slightly spicy, pear-apple jam with a departure to the minerality of 22

  2. TP-Darknight scored this whisky 93 points Expert Senior

.. this is old wicked stuff from the 1970 and 80s ... absolutely gorgeous... The Legacy 34 was my favorite so far, but in times of high prices this one is to go for and taste Laddies true origin. A master piece of history.

    Tasting: May 2021

Citrus fruits, honey, mature pears and apples. Some honey melon and sweet summer fruits.
    • Taste
      87 87
Full of sweetness and a lovely heat. Then the spices appear, as well as some almonds. Some citrus and green apples, but also oak wood and oily.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium in length. Again the spices are present and in combination with a nice warmth and some bitter almonds.

[July, 2003]  Together with friends I emptied a bottle that I bought for 79 Euro in October, 2002.

    In my old rating system (ten scales that translate into WB points: 50 - 66 - 75 - 80 - 82,5 - 85 - 87,5 - 90 - 92,5 - 95) I scored it 90.  My notes state it is a very delicate, balanced and quaffable dram.

    Enthusiasm 4/5 Whisky n ° 1332
    • Nose
Powerful and floury malt. Fruity (fresh apples cut at the moment). Attic with dusty wheat. Nice roundness.
    • Taste
Touch fluid. Fruity, sweet and spicy (nutmeg)
    • Finish
Rather tart, I expected something more round, but it's far from unpleasant.

  8. Allandale scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

    A old good Bruichladdich lovely.
    • Nose
Mellon balls in honey, lemon meringue, fresh apricot and kiwi. The oak fragrance unfolds  beautifully.
    • Taste
Waves of sweet oak and barley sugar. Gentle warmth. Graceful balanced and vivacious. Complex.
    • Finish
Silky smooth finish with zesty sea notes. Long and delicious .

I am always positively surprised, when I notice the price that this bottling still pays at auctions. 14 years after it was bottled it was sold for 94 € in the most recent Whiskyauction, although Laddies distilled in 1981 are usually much more expensive, specifically if Serge Valentin rated them 90 points (this rating was probably from a blind tasting for the Malt Maniac Awards, because he never published any tasting notes).

  11. BottleBox scored this whisky 80 points Expert Junior

It lacks the balance and balance I would expect at a 20 yo. In blind tasting I would probably never have estimated him 20 yo.
    • Nose
Vanilla, Melted Butter, Ralfy would say, "a hint of smoke," lots of oak, bitter almond, orang, and a little bit of what is commonly known as Laddich's Cowshed
    • Taste
Strong, oily, buttery, a pinch of pepper and then a long salty bitterness. Oak wood.
    • Finish
      Long, warm, strong, spicy

  16. granella2003 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Juicy aromas of citrus and vanilla oak in the background
    • Taste
A soft and smoky flavor with a hint of salt and butter tones that blend into an intense and rich flavor of raisins, cherries, vanilla and burnt orange with fruit cake.
    • Finish
      Long, simple finish

An uncoloured and non-chillfiltered Bruichladdich matured for 20 years in the Celtic Isle of Islay in oak barrels. Delightful.
