Decent bottling, but maybe I had a bit higher expectations, it turned out fairly average as very aged whiskies go. Happy to have had a chance to taste such a rare bottling, though.

Citrus notes, orange oil, light acetone, vanilla, honey, dried apricot, very new leather, hint of pine cones. Very balanced, but not a powerhouse. Vague hint of pickled cherries and mint. Later some toffee notes show up as well.

Good alcohol bite, quite vigorous and fresh, light pepper, then lemon oil, even lemon tart, showing both frosting sugar, lemon juice, and cake notes. Good dose of oak and barley, not bad at all. Second chew shows more oak and less sweetness, but also almost lime juice freshness, roasted bananas, candied apples, and fresh mint leaves. Third chew brings toffee, slight custard cream, vanilla and honey, and a bit of that pine cone again. Getting drier around the gums, and a bit watery and thin on the center of the tongue. Sort of an odd structure with so many fresh and sharp notes while being watery and basically dull at the core.

Light pepper, creamy lemon, light dried herbs, oaky spices, mint. Fading a bit quickly, unfortunately.

Old oak, fennel, lemons, cardamom and white pepper.

Showing its age, but not in a bad way.
    • Nose
Horlicks, cream and mown hay. Oranges wrapped in bung cloth with coffee grounds, aniseed and camphor.
    • Taste
Amazingly bright delivery for its age, barley sugar and camphor drops.  Heaps of oak come through now. Quite dusty and musty.
    • Finish
Old oak and gentle spices, fennel, cardamom and white pepper.

A raw, fresh and youthful style.
    • Nose
Fresh fruit juce with some herbs swimming around. Sweet honey and vanilla before a spicy scent of citrus and pepper appears.
    • Taste
A great chunk of dry wood. Lots of vanilla, honey and hot spices. A lot of fruit wax alongside some ripe grapes. Very fresh. The lemons and pepper appears at the end.
    • Finish
Long with the lemons and pepper dominating. Still fresh.
