What an old school sherry roar! Old and dignified, incredibly spicy and intense, multi-layered and complex. The old Strathisla from Gordon & MacPhail are pure enjoyment every time and really fantastic bottlings!

    • Nose
Intense copper shimmers reddish in the Premium Snifter, an oily streak sticks to the glass wall from which a multitude of syrupy "legs" loosens. Voluminous sherry pours out of the glass, sun-kissed raisins and dates combine with abrasion from old orange peel to create a dreamy nose. Currants and blackberries, plums and plums, morello cherries and cherries embedded in soft leather and a hint of sweet tobacco with creamy toffee and hard caramel. Old meadow herbs dissolve discreetly, honey and tobacco follow, dried vanilla pods and hints of green apple beguile the nose, the saliva begins to flow gently, old sawdust trickles onto cherries and oranges, minimal floral and grassy elements emerge, the nose is incredibly mild and complex. Leather, raisins, red berries, tobacco and herbs, I could smell this wonderful nose forever.
    • Taste
Sour cherries and currants flow slightly sourly over the tongue, herbs and leather are loosening from old wood tones, sweet tobacco mixes with plums and currants, wooden sharpness gently tickles the tongue and stimulates the saliva. The intense cherry and plum aromas slowly fade away, milk chocolate combines with toffee, wet tobacco leaves and a bouquet of meadow herbs stick oily to the palate. Cherry juice dominates the second sip, old wood tones come out spicy and warm around the tongue, hazelnuts and chocolate follow, as do leather and tobacco. Old mint and a touch of eucalyptus, herbs and spices are discreetly in the background
    • Finish
Sour cherries stick with plums and fresh mint on the palate, hazelnuts and old wood end in a minimal smoky note and roasted malt on the tongue. The aftertaste is incredibly spicy and creamy, mint dissolves from herbs, hazelnuts stick with forest honey on the palate, the dreamy aftertaste slowly fades ...

Sherry at maximum level for my palate, but nice vanilla pudding with rum-sultanas. Good length.
    Perfect pre-Christmas dram imho.

I was able to get a sample of this at the Brühler Whiskyhaus and saved it for the Superbowl 2019. So far, my best whisky, which is no wonder with this quality and my previous experience of one and a half years.

Wow, what an intense, broad, soft, full and beautifully slightly sweet nose. Almond, marzipan, nut, sherry clear, nectar. You always want to smell it.

Oak, dry, soft, wood, much less sweet now, port, tobacco, sherry, chocolate. A pleasure.

Wonderful malt. I like it very much. Especially in the nose and in the finish. The barrel influence can be clearly felt, but not intrusive. Very nice and intense sherry aromas.
    • Nose
intense nose, lots of dried fruits, raisins, spicy oak notes, plums, vanilla, wonderfully complex
    • Taste
Also very intense sherry notes at the beginning, lots of dried fruits, raisins, plums, spicy notes of old wood, becoming a bit bitter towards the end
    • Finish
Very sherry intense finish. The notes of dried fruits and plums are particularly present here. Again the wood notes, but a little more subtle than on the palate. Very pleasant mouthfeel. Slightly bitter later

Simply super balanced, beautiful Sherry-Strathi, thank God not too bitter as the elderly sometimes happen to me, has nice fruit here.
    • Nose
Light and dark raisins, dark butter, honey, some baked apple, toffee, plum, leather, cherry and camphor
    • Taste
Full-bodied, plum, chocolate, milk and bitter, chestnut, tawny port, tobacco leaves, oak already noticeably but beautifully integrated, dark honey, sweet licorice, marzipan
    • Finish
Long, sweet, slightly spicy, beautiful typical sherry-end, honey, dark malt, plum with kernel
