Whisky Reviews for Glendronach 2003

6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.94 points

  1. Lumpowitz scored this whisky 86 points Expert Junior

    • Nose
Nougat, Ovaltine, a few sour red fruits, slightly citrusy, sultanas, a hint of sawdust, in short a slight carnal sensation. This whisky takes time, but then reveals some complexity.
    • Taste
Dark fruits, some oak and chocolate. Soft mouthfeel and round taste.
    • Finish
Medium length finish with some sherry, oak, charcoal and dark chocolate.

This is a whisky to my taste! A decent Sherryfassreifung ... What more could you want! Well, if you want to criticize at a high level, then the sherry character would be too weak for my dream whisky and the oak a bit too subtle. With a higher age (I estimate it to a middle age) this could work! the 90 but he cracks - precision landing!
    • Nose
Fruit mix! But how intense fruits can be is shown by this whisky! They are ripe, mostly sweet fruits. Wild berries, red apples, bananas, raspberry jam. A small bit of malt is noticeable, significantly more oak along with a typical sherry character that comes through now and then. Paddled pears are there, nice juicy. I can perceive cinnamon and other mulled wine spices. Whistle, rum raisins .... I can not stop ... The nose is addictive. Mocha chocolate. Alcohol? Oh well ... But the whisky is so intense in the nose that I suspect 50% +. After a sip, the nose becomes sweeter and sherrylastiger. I love it.
    • Taste
Pulled fruit salad, which is already something and covered with forest honey and cinnamon is sprinkled. If one imagines one eats such a fruit salad in a pipe room, in which the aromatic tobacco scent hovers, then one gets quite close to the drinking pleasure of the whisky. So fruity! So sweet! Pleasantly spicy! Sherry tasted! Completely succeeded - tasty, yummy, meeeehr!
    • Finish
Medium to long (after several sips). Sweet at first, then more spicy and slightly bitter. Again - well done!

You look for a complex Malt here in vain. Nevertheless, very tasty and tasty
    • Nose
sweet, sugary and aromatic. When you get closer, a slight gum-minute comes on. Alcohol not superficial. After a short time in the glass comes a certain fruitiness and honey. With water little change in the flavors
    • Taste
Sweetness and tingle of alcohol. In addition, a nice orange note. Only slowly are chocolate and oak to advantage
    • Finish
      mid-sweet sweet and peppery finish
