    N- Despite with plenty of heat and spiky to term with, still no lack of delicious aromas on what we would expect from a PX Cask single cask. Take in the generous portions of fig, dark fruits and milky custard. Hefty resin fragrant with some cocoa, with whiffs of marmite developed undertones, semi savoury as it seems.

    P- Vibrant and solid. Very chewy and dry with subtle pepper. Puffy phenol rises with dominant sour pickles notes swamp the rest, decent dried fruits does come thru with charred orange peel, full body with plenty of bites.

    F- Medium-long, initial impression of dominant wood make it a wee cloying. Stiff. Sweet herbs and peppery.  A rare case for GD to miss the balanced mark.— at The Whisky Bar, Kuala Lumpur.

    N: Toffee sherry [obvs], with thick-sweet notes of molasses, black treacle and dark honey.
    T: Wishy-washy mouthfeel with the thicker sugars disappearing all too quickly. Hold in the mouth for the biggest impact - which is a given in most cases anyhow. It is however sooo much better with water.
    F: Almost nothing at first but then comes more of that sugar complex smorgasbord,…. an array with a penchant for travel.
    C: I wish the nose had translated on the palate, but it’s still fine whisky. Initially scored 84/85 but 87 with water. Blog

    Very good whisky for a 14yo. Good balance and high complexity with some interesting dynamics. Like the spicy and woody notes that stand up against the PX sweetness!

    Not cheap but worth every cent of it in my view. Compared to the 21yo Parliament I like the complexity, dynamics and slightly less sweetness of the single cask a bit more.

    Score = 90pts.
    • Nose
      W/o water: dark fruits, pears, vanilla, some pepper, chocolate, some leather. Typical PX sherry nose. Nice balance, no alcohol at all.

      W/ water: brings some more spicy tones forward and some more toffee and some softer fruits as well.
      Compared to the 21yo Parliament it is a bit less dried fruit (figgy/raisiny) which gives it an interesting complexity.
    • Taste
      W/o water: warm creamy mouthfeel. Dark fruits, sweet but not overly sweet. Spices (pepper, vanilla) and chocolate. Some espresso and chocolate in the finish with some tannines from the oak. Also has some earthy tones in it.

      W/ water: spicy notes stand up against water. Adds some creamy toffee in the middle.
      Compared to the 21yo Parliament it is slightly less sweet and a bit more peppery.
    • Finish
      Long mouthwarming, spicy (pepper, vanilla) start followed by sweet and creamy chocolate with dark fruit notes. Small hints of espresso.
