Apart from the finish, the barrel is barely noticeable despite the 35 years, that was probably no 1st or 2nd fill ... Alcohol also not well integrated, overall disappointing, as offer other old Bourbon Fassreifungen significantly more (for less money)
    • Nose
      82 82
fresh fruit, floral, slightly malty, a hint of cardamom
    • Taste
      82 82
vigorous, sharp onset, the alcohol is not well integrated at first, later vanilla with malt / cereals, astringent
    • Finish
      84 84
      long, spicy, slightly bitter finish

It’s quite nice! A bit subtle, and not the most complex or layered dram, but tasty and mature. I like it a fair bit better than the 24. While in that whisky, the oak really takes over, here it’s milder as well as more complex. It has nice richness for the proof, and the extended development is lovely. The nutty and waxy notes in here are very nice. The finish is my favourite part: it’s like a cold winter wind, perfect for the clear but freezing and blustery weather around these parts today.
    • Nose
Old, but fruity and bright. Plenty of fragrant wood, beeswax, slightly musty, earthy barley, toffee, fresh linen. Grapefruit, lime candies, pear, flowers, unripe peach, banana, and delicate sugar. Soft spices of nutmeg, vanilla, ginger, and cinnamon. Dust, walnuts, cut grass, custard, and a whisper of peat smoke. Only subtly sweet.
    • Taste
Soft texture, but rich. Salted butter and chocolate up front, then drier notes of walnuts, earth, and fresh leather. Lots more wax, and mild but savoury spice. Almost a root-beer sort of thing. Rich earthy barley, toffee and caramel, developing slowly through oak, then to tobacco and damp earth. Dried apples, dried apricots, and salted plantain chips, then a hit of cinnamon and dried herbs on the back end.
    • Finish
Medium, and soft. The dram is at its sweetest here. Wood sugar, walnuts, graham crackers, paraffin, graphite, complex black tea, green apples, and lime zest. Loads of melted butter, maybe atop some slightly burnt popcorn. Lingering salt, wet stones, and dried flowers.

A bit simple, light and almost refreshing. Vanilla is the take away here (75%) oak, malt, and spice are the rest (25%). It is tasty, but not what I was expecting for a 35yr old. Everything is very rounded and it does have a certain elegance
    • Nose
      87 87
Sweet vanillas, light maltiness, floral, a hint of oak and spice (I would never guess it was 35yrs old), apple juice
    • Taste
      87 87
Light, like the nose super sweet vanilla, here the oak is a bit stronger and does help balance the sweetness
    • Finish
      85 85
White pepper, a nice heat in the throat for 41%, mild sweetness, fairly short, again it’s vanillas you are left with

    • Nose
      89 89
aromatic with fresh fruits, oak, hints of vanilla. Appears relatively fresh and light. A little later: increasingly fruity with fresh fruit and notes of tropical fruit. Sweet baking spices and fine, dry oak complete the overall picture. Pleasant and inviting.
    • Taste
      89 89
slightly fruity and spicy, fine oak, some barrel and coffee. The long influence of the oak is noticeable here, but it can do so even after 35 years. Sweet-tart with oak, light fruitiness and a hint of smoke, a hint of spice and a little perfume, pleasant and not thin despite only 41%.
    • Finish
      88 88
delicately tart with a little barrel and coffee, a hint of chocolate, oak, then slightly fruity-spicy, soft, light malty fading ...

Conclusion: I was a little skeptical at first because of the low alcohol content,
my fear has not been confirmed.
A very aromatic dram and a nice experience.

Tasted from a friend who had a little bit left over of a sample he got from his buddy in the U.K. (I think?) so big thanks to both of them for letting me try this one!

    Color: Straw Gold

Nose: Very light but lovely fragrances, lavender, tulips, caramel cream, green apple, pear slices, honey bread, saline and light baking spices

Taste: A tad watery at first and then opens up into white pepper, caramel cream, green apple, cinnamon, dried ginger, fresh pears, toasted walnuts and lemon peel

Finish: Short to Medium with watery caramel apples and spongecake

I honestly can't believe that this was 35 years in bourbon. If I tried this blind I would've guessed somewhere in the teens but certainly not anything at over 30 years. The nose is quite good and the mouthfeel is nice but the spirit has just lost punch to where the pepperiness has taken over a bit too much for my liking. It's still good but not anything I'd come back to again. Time sadly has not been too kind to this whisky.

Very pretty, having a temples, but he is still far from a masterpiece. Probably because of the strength in taste, he lacks a body.
    • Nose
      85 85
Interesting, but not intense, making you sniff. I caught echoes of the skin (old leather briefcase), plastic (the shade is nice, although it sounds strange, but in this aromatic palette it is harmonious). The second nose is vanilla, cream, fresh roll, foliage.
    • Taste
      85 85
Watery, not enough density, light body. I feel citrus acidity, bread, sesame seeds, tannins.
    • Finish
      85 85
Measured and long enough, with a good balance of vanilla, sweet citrus and malt tones. At the end, the finish is soft, smoothly fading, with a delicate oak effect.

    • Nose
      85 85
Citrus flavors with vanilla, peaches, apricots and pear - still plenty of Brennereicharakter present. The length of Fassreifung is hardly noticeable in the aroma.
    • Taste
      84 84
Oak spicy flavors with coffee and dark chocolate.
    • Finish
      83 83
      long, woody and dry
