Flavour profile: Light & delicate
Colour: Wedding ring
The panel found this strikingly bright, fruity, sweet, citric and
effervescent on the nose – tropical fruits, pineapple, apple snow,
Refreshers and zingy sherbet – eventually soft leather, chalk-dust and
sanded wood sneaked in, almost unnoticed. The palate had honey and
mango-dew sweetness, with ‘de totally tropical taste’ of passion-fruit,
grapefruit and pineapple sprinkled with chilli and salt – tiny tremors
of oak and liquorice. The reduced nose was softer – sherbet straws,
distant emulsion paint and hints of white pepper. The palate was like a
pineapple ice-lolly – sweet, smooth, fruity and indulgent –
‘lip-smacking’, ‘gum-smacking’, ‘gob-smacking!’ – so much smacking, some
of us were getting worried.
Drinking tip: Dress up for a Caribbean beach party – shades, shorts, bandana, a reggae beat – and this.
