Had the age of my nose wanted a little more complexity and was a little sobered. The solvent grade is relatively superficial. But then he puts a decent shovel on it. In the taste really good, really multi-layered and incredibly tasty. Great whiskey, even if it's a grain.

A quite delicious and very complex whiskey, but as interesting as the Notes might sound, so exhausting was the tasting (you do not want to waste any of the precious 2cl), without any conscious "flavor search" the impression would be "sour on the nose, then overall very sweet, sugary, tasty and bourbon-like with medium woodiness. "Academically beautiful experience, but he did not overwhelm me, made me enthusiastic or even fun, as was the previously tasted whiskey / 42093 better, not quite as complex, complex, pipapo, but delicious, makes pleasure, not so complicated, only a sixth does so much pain in your wallet.
    • Nose
First, a tidy fresh-sour cloud from the glass saps, lemon, pineapple, pumpkin compote, sour cucumber ... of it remains the fruit, pineapple, yellow apple, ripe pear, some raisin, with milk chocolate, slightly nutty, and a gentle sharpness, between cinnamon, white pepper and ginger, later a tart-sweet note between tree needles and tobacco
    • Taste
like a good bourbon in old and round and rested, but without too "hard" wood influence (which would almost inevitably happen at 15 years of new oak), brown sugar, furniture polish, tree needles, resin (aromatic, without becoming too bitter), Molasses, white pepper, during the long "chewing" he also reminds a bit of blackberry jam, plum jam, sugar beet syrup, the mouth constantly changes between dry and syrupy - pretty freaky
    • Finish
medium-long milk chocolate, then a little resinous, it remains warm, velvety sharpness and a dry mouthfeel

Had the chance to taste this beauty at a 2016 Diageo Special Release Tasting in Zurich and instantly felt in love with that smooth, fresh and impressive dram. I remember saying "wow" after is took the first sip ...

Tasting Note by The Chaps at Master of Malt

Rich fudge pieces with an aromatic edge reminiscent of fabric softener.
Fruit soon develops with gooseberries in cream and a little pear drop.
Palate: Baked pears now, in pastry, with hints of cinnamon, fresh flowers, cloves and lemon thyme.
Finish: Pow! Peach melba and a touch of pot pourri, fragrant and delicious.

N: Wow, its so rich - Diageo magic at work! A touch of mushroom joins the vanilla confectionary.
T: Same level of richness on the palate also. Some chlorine accompanies the grain.
F: Like the Port Dundas WB, theres a robust Mannochmore-esqueness to this grain, such is the vanilla=ethanol driving-force.
C: Good ole’ grain this one, but no big fussing after it with that price tag [TWE £740 2017], yet I’m aware this was for some, one of the [TWE 2016] whisky show highlights.

    Scores a B
