  1. RJKrueger scored this whisky 85 points Expert Senior

Balanced and harmonious, tasty and easy to drink. Significant but not overwhelming influence of the port cask. A handsome, round Irishman.
    • Nose
      85 85
Fully ripe red apples and berries, cinnamon, spicy wine notes.
    • Taste
      86 86
Fresh start, then comes sweetness and red fruits. Spicy, somewhat herbal notes towards the back. Quite strong, despite the low alcohol strength.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium to long finish that carries the taste away and lets it fade away in a balanced way.

  2. KB201 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

For the 125th anniversary of the SS Bushmills, a number of different barrel maturations were brought out. The 2nd edition matured in Ruby Port wine barrels.
    • Nose
      85 85
Heavy red fruits, sweet & cinnamon-spicy; slightly flowery
    • Taste
      85 85
Full-bodied, exotic fruity. Amazingly powerful for its 40%, well integrated sweetness with pleasant port wine notes.
    • Finish
      86 86
Long-lasting exotic fruity, some honey, combined with slightly dry oak.

  3. PatSch23_12 scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

Has the good tendencies of the 16er, but this is missing in my opinion, the maturity and thus the balance.
    • Nose
sweet, red apple, candy and marzipan. Cherry juice. Add to that the typical light and floral character of Bushmills. A touch of woody spice in the form of cocoa powder lies above it. The port kegs have had no exaggerated impact on the whiskey, but gave a nice splash of red fruit.
    • Taste
relatively light and dry. Ripe peaches are reminiscent of 16-year-old Three Woods. Comparatively spicy, little sweetness from the port, but more bitterness, which gets a slightly unpleasant upper hand for me here.
    • Finish
      medium

Port finish done right! There is a significant port influence to be felt, but it does not overpower the whiskey by any means. Malt, honey like sweetness, gentle sour/bitter red berries notes. Some nuttines. Nothing off putting. An easy sipper. Despite the 40% ABV, this whiskey does not feel wattery. The balance is spot on in my opinion. I quite like this! Under 70 Euro, I would consider buying it again.

Could be a little bit longer, but that is complaining on high niveau.

Very nice port barrel maturation. Not put on, not particularly complex, but despite only 40% strong in taste and finish.

  10. Malthead19 scored this whisky 78 points Connoisseur

    - one of the very good NAS Bushmills bottlings
    - the best of the STEAMSHIP range
    - For about 70 €, however, a steep price, tends to be too expensive
    • Nose
a lot of fruity sweetness, grapes, cherry, makes a very sweet, gentle impression
    • Taste
soft, sweet start, becomes stronger on the palate, oak, spice, develops even further in the mouth
    • Finish
      soft gentle fruity medium-long finish;
long aftertaste of grapes and oak

Bottle L8078IB 002, uncorked 42 days ago. A bit pale and overpriced at first, it has developed very positively over the course of the year and offers full port whiskey enjoyment for a NAS whiskey. Leave a lot of time in the nosing jar!
Another excellent Bushmills, just a shame that the Bushmills Prize is partly overdrawn and so here too.
Very nicely balanced Irish, reminiscent of the Bushmills 16yo in phases. Got better and more complex with every sip of today's in-depth tasting
    • Nose
In addition to many flavors of berry fruit, almond, port, honey and sweetness, you can also feel a little metallic youth
    • Taste
Amazingly powerful for its 40%, well integrated sweetness with pleasant port wine notes. Warm mouthfeel.
In addition to what the nosing offered, there was also dark chocolate and coffee
    • Finish
good medium length, getting a little drier. Otherwise like nose and palate

Rather simple and easy but not too bad actually
    • Nose
      85 85
Pink grapefruit, apricot, mango, papaya, honeydew, little spicy and herbal, hints of strawberry and bubble gum, candy, toffee
    • Taste
      83 83
Oily, sweet, little fruity, more strawberries
    • Finish
      81 81
      Warm, rather short

Limited Release; A very decent Irish single malt! Compared to the Sherry Edition I like them better! Unfortunately only bottled with 40% and too expensive!
    • Nose
      pleasant nose: sweet grapes, then berries, plums, oak, vanilla;
    • Taste
      soft, aromatic onset, ripe sweet fruits (grapes), caramel, oak;
    • Finish
      medium-length, ripe grapes; slightly bitter and oak in the finish;

  17. ctu scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

My favorite finish with a light irish character.
    • Nose
      82 82
Floral. Apple, Verbena candies, marzipan, lemon peel and spicy oak.
    • Taste
      82 82
Matured oak, cut grass, gerbeaud and nutmeg.
    • Finish
      81 81
      Medium length, spicy.
