Some wines are a symphony of many instrument groups, some wines have only one instrument, but at least a polyphony, and some wines only use one hand from beginning to end in the subwoofer zone. Please, the other hand is always a chord.
    • Nose
Bourbon-like roasting barrel atmosphere, hardened yellow earth, red bean fire spoon, multigrain cereal cake, dried grapes forgotten on the vine after the harvest season, no milk, only coveted with caramel, Shirley concentrated juice, Deep-baked, sun-dried Mantening, jujube honey.
Smell incense is very important, I can't believe that this product was sent by a three steamer.
    • Taste
It is fuller, extremely smooth, low in grease, without burning or irritation.

Pastries made of whole grains, roasted nuts, the bitter base common in sherry buckets are slightly sweet, slightly dried cherry plum fruits, cinnamon spices.
A sherry solo without flaws, but unfortunately the style is extremely simple and it is a very thick and sticky flavor.
    • Finish
Long, just put roasted nuts or hand-punched utensils, bitter, wheaty.

At first glance, it seems unfathomable that 3-4 yo Taiwanese whisky would gain ‘under the counter’ status at a whisky festival, hidden from the public gaze and undisclosed to a potentially wider customer base. Price wise however it makes sense given the Solist single cask bottlings are currently retailing for £335 [TWE Apr ’17]. On top of that, this young Taiwanese distillery is selling whisky from the Solist range faster than they can produce it. It’s quite a phenomena given you can acquire a 1967 48yo Tomintoul for the same money as an Asian 3yo. It’s crazy and exciting times.

Guided by his knowledge & expertise of sherry and whisky respectively, Nathan took Chris and I through the ‘under the counter’ Solist range Blog

N: Wine sweet with mineral notes.
    T: Woody dessert wine.
    F: Sweet, light fresh
C: Despite the wine references, overall I found it more Cognac-like in nature - the grape the common denominator. Not quite as convincing as either of the previous two, but still it scores a thoroughly impressive 87 points.

    Scores a B

N- Famine floral notes with rose syrup, hints of new leather. Cream soda and soothing mocha.

P- Medium body. Creamy sweet, dried raisin and soft honey. A much lighter and friendlier dram among the Solist.

F- Traces of heat at the back, lightly pungent with lifted coffee.
