Whisky Reviews for Kavalan Solist
2 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 89.88 points
- I have tasted various Amontillado sherry’s and I always found the sherry very sour and extremely dry, so I expected a sour and very dry whisky. But on the contrary, this whisky has an elegant and restrained sweetness to it. It needs quite some time to open up. But once it’s open it treats you on lush, balanced and very elegant aromas and flavours. For me this was the big surprise of the Kavalan Masterclass, what a lovely dram.
All in all a superbly elegant whisky.
A fresh, intense, rich, balanced and elegant whisky with aromas of lush fresh sherry, green apple, pear, floral honey, sulphur, damp cellar, earthy tones, dried fruits (apricots, peach, figs, dates, sultanas), antique oak, cigar tobacco, wax, vanilla, grape seeds, rosewood, mahogany, hedge leaves (Privet), apricot jam, roasted nuts, subtle molasses, orange zest, lime zest, mocha, toffee, vanilla, coconut and creamy oak.
A powerful, rich, balanced and elegant whisky with aromas of dark forest honey, lush sherry, red apples, unripe pear, guava, melon, chili, white pepper, ginger, allspice, vanilla, nutmeg, clove, resin, tannins, walnut, hazelnut skins,, burned caramel, butterscotch, dried fruits (prunes, apricots, peach, figs, dates, golden sultanas), brown sugar, beeswax, rosewood, cedarwood, mahogany, orange zest, marmalade, hazelnut liqueur, hint of rum and bitter oak
A long, rich and dry finish with aromas of pepper, chili, grape seeds, tannins, cedarwood, rosewood, buttery, black tea, dark honey, dried fruits, backing spices, melon, chocolate and dry oak.
