Whisky Reviews for Kavalan Solist
6 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 88.95 points
- Geiler shit. Totally my booty scheme. 92 points. A worthy tip of the Kavalan bottlings!
Sweet raisins. Chocolate - Rum Grape Nut Chocolate. Vinous leather. Nut mixture. Intense, not stinging, but you notice the cask strength. Softens with time, gets warmer. Warm plum compote. Raisin bread.Water: softer, creamier. Grapes.
Full and quite peppery. Leathery fruits. Sweet. Salivation is stimulated.
Water: grapes, biscuit biscuits, raisins. Schokoladel. A grenade. Much softer and at the same time fuller and more aromatic. The rum grape nut chocolate is so intense. Hazelnuts. Caramelized almonds.
Long and sweet, the oral cavity remains occupied. The throat is warm. Leathery nuts and raisins fade slowly.
- This is actually the highest priced Kavalan.
Nose: Rather closed, with a drops of water sweet sherry, but not a pure load of it. Sweet cherries.
Mouth: Unbelievable smooth, milk-chocolate, nuts, red berries. Holy sweetness.
Finish: Long and sweet, just the perfect wood-balance.
Conclusion: I was blown away by this. The PX makes it so sweet, you can't get enough. Nose is missing something, but the mouth is one of the best I ever tasted! 92/100
If you can get a cheap bottle, take your chance, it's worth it! 400€ are too much, of course.
- This is one Kavalan's most potent and powerful in terms of smell and taste. It sticks to its theme of deeply sherried notes, and it does not back down. If you like sherry bombs, this one is worth a bash.
Deep dried red fruits (cherries and figs), ripe yellow peaches, vanilla, smoke (barrel char) with chocolate mints, and citrus peels mixed with dried fruits.
Peaches, orange cream, licorice, and brown sugar.
Oak tannins and bitter cherry concentrate.
- N- Creamy biscuity with caramel coated citrus fruits. Juicy and sugary.
P- Lush of mixed spices, well spread all over palate with burnt sweet, hot pepper building up over time.
F- Medium length and smooth. Sweetness lingers.

- Tasting Notes by Weinquelle Lühmann
Color: dark forest honey
Aroma: Beautiful rosemary with hints of lemongrass, sweet citrus notes and toffee. In the background tempting sweet oak notes.
Taste: Very fruity and warm, with a nice result of the combination of classic PX sherry notes and subtropical ripening in the heat of Taiwan, so velvety and soft.
Finish: The juicy raisins and honey syrup notes linger forever in the mouth.
