Whisky Reviews for Aberlour 19-year-old

1 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 87.03 points

  1. p4blo scored this whisky 83 points Expert Senior

For a first fill sherry cask, at this age and especially at this price, this is really disappointing. I like the regular A'bunadhs much more.
    • Nose
Not too volatile, closed up. Notes of red apples, cherries, honey, toffee, some flowery and herbal elements. Nothing really sticks out of what I would call background, surprisingly mild for a 1st fill.
    • Taste
Nice texture, almost creamy. The notes of sherry with toffee, milk chocolate, raisins and cloves are slightly more pronounced than on the nose, but they come with tons of tannins and burning spices, chilli mostly.
    • Finish
Short, initially hot with an attack of wood spices - pepper, chilli, then a brief moment of sweetness sharply turning into unpleasant bitterness.
