Whisky Reviews for Paul John Single Cask - Peated
3 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 86.33 points
- Interesting smoke, very much bonfire smoked ham-like. Superbly matured for its young age. Has power but lacks a bit of development and complexity to make it truely great. At least worth a try in any case. Good selected cask!
- Interesting mole, the nose is not so smoke-peaty, rather closer to HP with its herbs, but the taste / finish is already smoky, but with a rich background, it's very nice. Now I want to try something unreadable from them.
Open, moist, the first nose - light peat and furniture lacquer; slightly burnt or just sooty wood, dry peat, dried medicinal herbs, a little coal, strong lacquer notes, new leather goods, in the background citrus jam, caramel, a little wet wool, fur;
Dense, saturated, there are more peat, coal, smoke, caramel, lemon peel in tea, succong lapsang, resin, new leather goods.
Light, bitter-sweet, smoke-peat with an admixture of a young bark, grapefruit crusts, wax, something mineral-asphalt, like a mummy;
