A hallucinating coherence between the nose, the mouth, and the finale. Very precise notes, very subtle: all the spices pass, sweet, and beautifully balanced, sprinkled with a beautiful flower honey. The wood is there, but despite the 43 years spent in casks, it does not crush everything. On the contrary, it emphasizes and elegantly supports other flavors.
    • Nose
A great sweetness, on a syrupy side with sweet floral notes. I was waiting for tons of fruit: I have tons of flowers on wax and a very light wood. There is also a side gingerbread that emerges more and more with aeration: honey, cinnamon and ginger are the pride and eventually dominate this dram. It's very thin, very subtle: we would stay immersed for hours so it's complex and it evolves.
    • Taste
It does not look like anything I've ever drunk as whisky. Honey and gingerbread dominate floral notes and a very pretty woody: it's fabulous, a great balance.
    • Finish
but not enough: we want more. Always this very precise gingerbread, with the sweet side of a polyfloral honey (I looked in the dictionary, it exists).

A striking nose. Very fade - a sign of age, but also super-floral! In the mouth, melted, well spiced, fruity, delicate, there is frangipane there too. superb

    Enthusiasm 5/5

Nose: Similar fruit gum flavors, but with a dominating pineapple. But also banana, mango and a little lemon juice. In addition a lot of leather, toffee and softened cardboard box. The wort goes to zero, so that the Fruchtgumminoten can fully develop. Elegant and soft.
Taste: The fruit gum from the nose is also present here at the beginning, but is replaced immediately by a sharp, salty spice in combination with tart herbs and wood. Cinnamon, a little clove and cocoa are subordinate to.
Finish: Medium to long - spicy-dry and now with no discernible fruit notes. After a while, a sweetness of honey, sugar, melon and slightly smoky malt sets in again - the wood steps discreetly into the background
Note: The combination of the extreme fruit gum and the tart splint takes a bit of getting used to our taste!
    87 points (nose: 90 / taste: 86 / finish: 85)

Exciting. Dry and not as full as many other 70s undisclosed Speysiders, but beautifully complex and always revealing new notes. A great dram, with the best Undisclosed Speys here.
    • Nose
      In short, something needs something
      Time to open up.
      Then comes the typical exotic
High in fruit (gooseberries, oranges, passion fruit, mango,
Apricot jam). This is joined by pollen, honeycomb, something
Pastries. Warm. Later also a little speik and mint. Elegant.
Wonderfully complex, fine, constantly changing and is
dense and very deep. Great nose, but takes time and
Employment, so that all nuances reveal themselves.
    • Taste
      Velvet start, fine sweetness. Fast
becoming spicier and drier. Cardamom, cinnamon, oak, intense,
full. Dark chocolate and Christmas spices, gingerbread. Then
but the fruitiness comes through again: apricot jam, mango,
      Passion fruit. Concentrated, harmonious.
    • Finish
      Dry, cocoa, a little bit
Christmas spices. Intensive. In a second wave comes then
the fruitiness is high and in a third wave the pollen and
      Honeycombs. Long and harmonious.

The synthetic side on the nose prevents me from going higher but my non-appreciation of it might come from my inexperience with such old malts. So take that with a grain of salt : most more experienced friends thought the nose was the best part. And, still, it is too complex to give it anything below 90.
    • Nose
Wasn't expecting that ! Tons of beeswax, shea butter, sandal oil, almond milk, even suntan lotion … In a posh cosmetics shop ! But there's also a wee synthetic feel, like a new pair of sneakers, and I'm not totally fond of it. With time, the expected fruitiness appears, and it's very delicate : apricots and quince jelly. Lacquered wood, a nice lactic side (fresh butter). Keeps evolving on earthy touches and various dried flowers, lavender mostly. Now we're talking ! Very complex, high subtlety.
    • Taste
Just very very good. The waxy-woody-fruity trio does wonders, in a very refined and old-school style. You can feel that "antique" side (I've been looking for a translation of "patiné" in French, in vain) that a youngster could never display. It has no immediacy, feels well-mannered. On various and complex tiny aromas : passion fruit, mint leaf, cherries, yoghurt … Doesn't feel over-oaked to me, the wood just gives a certain "nervosity". Great complexity again.
    • Finish
Not uber-long but super clean and focused. Lacquered wood and exotic touches linger, along with a welcome acidity on raspberries and currants. Drying, but not overly so (to me).
