Amazing Single grain, Vanilla and nuts on the nose, Tauffy-Caramel with some raisins, followed by Spice. The last goes on for ever.. Same flavors as the North of Scotland with Spice added. My first love of Scotch.
Vanilla and nuts on the nose
Tauffy-Caramel with some raisins, followed by Spice
The nose is soft, grassy and smell of varnish. Light hints of honey and vanilla, but nothing much else. Rather closed nose, if you ask me.
It is equally soft on the palate, again with varnish and grass, but now it shows a little more life. Some marshmallows and pineapple cubes. Honey, again. Pleasant but not very complex. On second sips, I get some pears and lavender. The spices start to speak as well. Aniseed and hints of white pepper. No water needed.
Super sweet and super sophisticated. The narrow range of flavours in no way diminishes the drinking experience of this astonishing grain.
An intense blast of toasted coconut and vanilla, custard creams, coconut mushrooms, vanilla fudge and maybe just a hint of something citrus. It has a depth and intensity that makes you want to sniff it for ages. All the grainy harshness has long gone and yet there isn't a hint of mustiness about it. Amazing.
Butterscotch and vanilla essence. Like drinking lightly diluted golden syrup.
Now there's a burst of spirit that gives life and sweet spices to the sugared sweetness.
