Terrific! Unexpectedly worth the money. There are not many whiskys that can keep up! 90 points.
    • Nose
Beguiling sweetness - caramel and gummy bears - caresses the nose. In addition aromatic, warm smoke! Suddenly vanilla is added. Something so intense! Some of the smoke disappears completely, then comes back. Apple is here now, grilled neatly in bacon. Still extremely cute. The alcohol is already there, but tame for 57%. A young smoker can be so complex and great! I'm excited. Malt is now coming through and a little cowshed, I am reminded of alpine pastures in the Alps. Pear is added. The smoke is trapped in the background and accompanies all other aromas; after the first sip, the nose becomes a pure creamy caramel, to find back after a while.
    • Taste
Here too - cute. The smoke gets through faster and stronger. A creamy, sweet, greasy mouthfeel. It gets drier over time. The second sip has less smoke, but brings herbs that wonderfully complement the sweetness.
    • Finish
Long and warm, sweet with aromatic smoky aromas.

much less smoky than I expected - yummy
    • Nose
sweet creamy vanilla pudding with caramelized cinnamon & sugar crust, some clove, roasted aromas, pear, spicy herbaceous oak with resin, mint, a sourish yeasty white wine note, delicate smoke
    • Taste
sweet - spicy - intense - fresh vanilla, lime, citrus zest, complex peppery oak - surprisingly faint smoke with some ash aroma, slightly bitter - creamy
    • Finish
long and intense - spicy, vanilla, sparkling intense

    • Nose
Typical Ocotmore smoke, which disappears after a few minutes and paves the way for a lush fruit basket. Cherries, blueberries, oranges, green apples, a little lemon and vanilla notes gradually crystallize out. Maritime notes, such as a slight saltiness and something mysterious mineral, refine the complex aroma, which causes more associations after 10-15 minutes and increases the anticipation of tasting immensely.
    • Taste
Extremely oily mouthfeel, almost creamy / buttery, despite the high, well-integrated, alcohol content of 57.3%. The dominant smoke sets in quickly, fruity berries, a hint of vanilla / caramel, a fine oak spiciness and the salty, mineral-maritime notes accentuate this unbelievably beautiful taste experience.
    • Finish
Very long, the smoke passes slowly and the fruity notes gain the upper hand with a pleasant dose of oak. Strong!

Smoke and grilled pineapple slices, lemon sorbet, smoked ham. Sting lightly in the nose, it takes time in the glass. Freshly beaten wood, wild herbs, cereal, vanilla.
    • Taste

Pleasantly smoky onset, slightly dry, creamy. Lying close to your tongue, bring spicy ham, the harsh sweetness of grapefruit, with lemon juice and pineapple. Grapes, blackberry jelly. Caramel sweet, fine-sour chocolate.

Medium in the throat and slightly dry. Increasingly smoky, which is very tasty in connection with the fruit notes.

A little disappointing, older age makes Octomore slide more and more tame towards Lagavulin, too bad, but of course still drinkable overall.
    • Nose
Slightly vegetable, olives, capers, toffee, nettle tea, chamomile, lightly roasted malt, vanilla and some hay
    • Taste
Capers, stinging nettle, octomore smoke is only very subtle, slightly sweet, greasy notes, more and more reminiscent of older Lagavulin, incense sticks, herbal honey
    • Finish
Herbal honey, tree resin, some heather grass and malt, medium length

Excellent, as always for Octomore. Though I did not notice an uptick in complexity or depth compared to other versions for the age and price of this one. So, a wonderful dram, but you'd do just fine with other versions of Octomore.
    • Nose
Dry, sooty peat, brine, smoke, ash, honey, white fruit.
    • Taste
Sweet and sooty arrival. Dark honey, brine, ash, peat, vegetal notes, citrus, herbaceous, spice.
    • Finish
Long, with billowing sweet smoke and ash.
