  1. Marko_I did not rate this whisky Connoisseur

Very easy-going, very unspectacular, beautiful entry-level and TV whisky, grade Balvenie 12 Doublewood. So much (~ 35-40) would spend for it and not with almost 70 € almost twice.
    • Nose
pleasant and cozy, sweet, lots of caramel and milk chocolate, some dry, old wood
    • Taste
sweet with some spice, milk chocolate, toffee, very creamy mouthfeel, slight hot, very tasty, 40% strong enough, not too watery
    • Finish
medium long, warm, latte, some wood

  2. pianoman scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Light, sweetish. Yellow apples, ripe pears. Spring flowers. Marzipan, a hint of almonds. Freshly mown grass.
    • Taste
Soft, pleasant. Pears, peeled almonds, mild honey. A touch of caramel. Rather short.

  3. Dottore scored this whisky 79 points Expert Senior

Very atypical Macallan. A decent entry-level whisky but not a typical representative of the Macallanrange. 79 points
    • Nose
Honey sweetness with only a few fruit notes. Pretty floral, even light and fresh. Where are the beautiful Macallan Sherry grades? ... mmmh, well, just ex-Sherry Cask. The American Oak dominates. Something smells slightly burnt in the background and unfortunately not so nice, I do not like. No complexity, no complexity. The Amber and Sienna are much better here!
    • Taste
Very sweet, almost liqueur and full of vanilla and honey. So much sweetness without corresponding fruit or bitterness I'm not used to from Macallan. He does not have much more to offer in his mouth, astonishing.
    • Finish
Short and sweet. Virtually no bitterness, no fruit.

  4. Achany scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

fruity, hints of vanilla and sherry, well balanced, some spices, not too much of it, some spices, some wood, some malty tones as well. finish could be longer. Nice entry level macallan. very easy to drink and the finish is all right.

Better than Fine Oak, bercause the favorable sherry / bourbon ratio. It would be nice at higher ABV.
    • Nose
Sherry, malt, vanilla, honey and citruses. Touch of spicy oak.
    • Taste
Malt, citruses and spicy oak. Pepper and nutmeg. Apple, cocoa and raisin.
    • Finish
      Medium length, spicy, bittersweet.

  9. Rosebank88 scored this whisky 76 points Expert Senior

    • Nose
First, fragrant vanilla, oatmeal, malt and a hint of orange zest. Becomes sweeter after sugar syrup or Maoam chewy candy. Later also ground almonds.
    • Taste
At first surprisingly oaky, a lot of malt, oatmeal, fruit-like fruitiness, hay, almonds and sulfurized light raisins. Maybe also very sugary milk chocolate.
    • Finish
Short, dry maltiness, chocolate raisins and a hint of dried apricot.

  10. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

The nose is by far the best. Rather disappointing in the mouth. Would then like to try in comparison but the 43% US version. Maybe that has more pep.
    • Nose
Fruity and spicy, espresso, oak, bittersweet, sticky, orange peel, fresh peppermint, pepper, turmeric, some cherry, very spicy overall, cocoa
    • Taste
rather watery mouthfeel, light, rather tart, some fruit, cherry, plums, espresso, dark, slightly creamy and sweet, cocoa, also spicy here, noticeably oak, unfortunately it lacks in intensity, taste is only conditionally transported, if one mouth really takes full (1cl +) then something similar like intense taste comes up.
    • Finish
Cherry, some fruit peel, slightly peppery, tingling, thin, nuts on the palate
