Whisky Reviews for Classic 18-year-old MoS

7 users have left a review for this whisky and scored it an average of 84.86 points

  1. Vallado scored this whisky 78 points Expert Senior

Pleasant nose, but for me an extremely annoying soapy-artificial note on the palate and in the finish, which unfortunately pushes the overall impression down significantly.

  2. Kaleva scored this whisky 84 points Expert Senior

Decent whisky, with its strongest side on the nose. Nicely balanced but quite plain and straightforward. Dried fruits on the nose give a hint that sherry casks were used in the blend. With its price can be an excellent daily dram.
    • Nose
Slightly sweet and fresh, green apples, sherry notes (dried fruits, raisins), toffee, oranges, berries marmalade, hint of cinnamon, some solvent notes, very light oak on the background, almost insensible touch of smoke
    • Taste
Slightly sweet, a bit punchy and spicy (peppers, ginger), blackberry jam, candied orange zest, menthol, walnuts, light oaky bitterness
    • Finish
Medium-long, nutty, herbal notes, light sweetness, soft oak at the end

  4. Sandman scored this whisky 84 points Connoisseur

    • Nose
Raisins, cinnamon, orange, chocolate, wood sawdust, cherries, raspberry, blackberries, blueberries, rubber, honey and leather.
    • Taste
Baked apples, raisins, walnuts, raspberry, blueberries, honey, oak, mandarin, citrus zest and orange chocolate.
    • Finish
Medium to long, chocolate, walnuts, oak, raisins, mown grass, orange chocolate, forest fruits and spices.

  5. gerrit de guru scored this whisky 86 points Expert Senior

    Nose was the best part.
    • Nose
Classic, middle aged, mostly speysidey notes. Sherry is present. A hint of nailpolish remover. Pleasant but a little flat.
    • Taste
Easy. This can't offend anyone. Nuts, spices and oak emerging. This should be really good with a higher ABV.
    • Finish
The finish is rather short with raisins and other sweet, dry notes.

  6. St. Pauli scored this whisky 82 points Connoisseur

It's a bit rough (dominated bij European sherry oak), although the nose was pretty nice.
    • Nose
Nutty oloroso sherry, some light peat smoke, leather, varnish, orange, date, apricot jam.
    • Taste
Quite hot, yet thin, with ginger, menthol. Next, raisins, orange, clove, wood and nuts.
    • Finish
Spicy and dry, with walnuts, plain oak, clove, pepper.

  7. Cubey666 scored this whisky 85 points Connoisseur

A blended malt with whisky from five distillers from five different regions: Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside, Islay and from the Islands: Orkney.

Nose: Quite a nice and complex nose: flowery and grassy notes which reminds me of lowland whiskies, apples, pears, peaches and oranges. Also some tropical fruits are hidden in the background. This together with a hint of smoke and peat. The longer you smell the more you discover. If it was a bit more powerful it would be even better.

Taste: Delicate and quite smooth but also mouth filling and rich. There is really a lot to discover when you keep it longer in your mouth. Quite some spiciness, a bit like those infamous BBQ herbs you can put on your charcoal bbq, with a full sweet body.Finish: quite long and pleasant, smooth, with hints of mandarine and freshly cut wet grass and flowers.
