This whiskey is a single grain ?! Really surprising. Ayreshire is the name given by independent whiskey bottlers produced by Girvan, but in my opinion there is no guarantee that this one is a given its character. Distillery that contained in its former Ladyburn enclosure. Hendrick's gin is distilled here and since 2007 Ailsa Bay whiskey. As usual William Grant & Sons does in simplicity ... But what is this whiskey? Still, here we have a very pleasant whiskey to enjoy, with a nice transition between the caramelized sweet side and the more intense and fruity flavors. Then comes the finale with its smoke that undoubtedly suggests that we are typically in the presence of a single malt style slightly old school. www.passionduwhisky.com
    • Nose
Nose: We are on a mixture of honey, plants such as mint, but also some citrus fruits. While maintaining a lot of freshness, it is the caramelized influence of bourbon that appears with the opening, but also much later smoke.
    • Taste
Palate: A striking attack on citrus fruits, lemon followed directly by honey and then a vegetable bitterness. The texture is rather greasy, like granular.
    • Finish
Final: The finish always has a sweet and honeyed face, but a woody presence and smoke raises the aroma and offers length.

Tasted during a  Malts of Scotland "Rollercoaster-tasting" October 2016

nose: bit gluey, spices and some sawdust and sawed wood. hints of smoked meat, and a bonfire with charcoals.

taste: quite some warmth of the alcohol (it was the first whisky of the evening...) a hint of young spirit and strawberries.

    finish: averagely long
