    1 of 9 scapa at a club tasting.

    Yet another one at 40abv. Should be higher. Especially for scapa, which is a fairly tame profile, but still tasty.

      Soft vegetal peat, salt, lemon honey cough drops, touch of mint, underpowered.

    A NAS original bottling from Scapa; Interesting and neat malt, unfortunately very expensive!
    • Nose
      fruity (citrus), light, soft, gentle campfire smoke;
    • Taste
      pleasantly soft onset, light smoke, sweet (honey), caramel, subtle fruit notes; Vanilla, young, one-dimensional;
    • Finish
      very short finish; pleasant fruity finish;

    • Nose
      A light peatiness, which is to be expected from a peated cask finish. It goes hand in hand with a salty sea spray and some brine. A whisper of vanilla, accompanied by a good amount of ripe banana.

      Fairly dry and quite peaty, with some soot and tar to boot. Notes of toasted oak, heather and a light touch of honey round everything out.
    • Finish
      Subtle peat, drying.

    RubbishManufactured crap with a really bad aftertaste

    The nose is ok but it's all downhill from there.

    I picked the Scapa 16 what a nosedive in quality this and the Skiren are in comparison.

    A pseudo peated whisky at a slighty too high price.

    It is not made with peated barley, rather getting the peat note from re-using what I suspect are Islay casks.

      Never found this level of articulate peat in an Orcadian before. More briny than heathery. But still very fleeting and elusive.

      Soft fruit on pear and pineapple.

      A little vanilla and some fatty almonds.
    • Taste
      Peat smoke also on initial arrival, although weak. A little young and rough, but there are some sweet fruit to soften it.
    • Finish
      Rather short with some oaky dryness to it.

    Unfortunately a bit disappointing. In my opinion, the 16er can neither replace nor even reflect the character. Low aromas, very thin mouthfeel and medium-long finish.

    It's not bad, but it would have a higher voltage and a lower price. But, in my opinion, better than Skiren.

      Compote from tropical fruit - dominates pineapples, it is also mango, a little plums. Dried figs, malt, salt, spices, vanilla and smoke appear.
    • Taste
      The early onset of lighter peat, later more pressing into the foreground peaches, malt, cereal, cream latte.
    • Finish
      Again, la latte, cereals, more pronounced spiciness and, of course, peat. It's long gone
