Whisky Reviews for Longmorn 1992 Wy

Another independently filled longmorn, this time without a sherry keg - and yet or just because of that incredibly good. The Hogshead was just a long time in the warehouse, the Malt shows no junk. Oh yes .. on the titles that Wemyss gives the whiskys, some distillers could take an example of their tasting notes. Extremely apt.
    • Nose
beguiling mix of heavier summer flowers and ripe fruits (apples, pears, possibly some apricots), underlaid - indeed - with anise, but also with fennel notes. The age gives him a wonderful fullness and the alcohol strength is just right, so to speak, to lift it up out of the glass, without being penetrating. Spicy resin and honey notes, some pine needles
    • Taste
the ripe fruits literally slide over the tongue. Pineapple that is still refreshing and slightly sparkling with all its sweetness. Yellow plums and peaches topped with a fresh Mediterranean herbal note of sage, rosemary and thyme. Dried coconut and almonds. Something mineral
    • Finish
Caramel and a long drawn black or spiced tea. No trace of bitterness, no lumbering wood

  2. ColdAesthetics scored this whisky 90 points Connoisseur

First of all, it will not appeal to everyone, who only looks for sherry bombs or only tropical fruit bourbon bombs, is out of place here. It is an ingenious, independent malt with many spices, without unpleasant pungency like pepper notes.
    • Nose
Anise, perfume, dusty furniture, old wooden hut, fennel, vegetable garden
    • Taste
Herbs, anise, Mediterranean feel, malt, away maritime notes, more like Highland Park than Old Pulteney
    • Finish
Dry kräutrig, still the fine anise, very long finish leaving the oriental garden in the mouth

I didn't notice the oriental notes but compared to others from Speyside I taste a mango in the whisky and I think that's great.

This was initially very closed and a bit dull. Now he's gotten a lot better. The now shows no tropical fruits, which could be expected from a Bourbon barrel whisky with this age. He rather goes into the herbaceous corner and shows rather lighter fruits and restrained sweetness. Very interesting.
