  2. Kantenmechaniker scored this whisky 88 points Connoisseur

Very tasty, very barrel-loaded, not really heavily peated, if someone had given me this as the new Emperor's Way from Elsburn, then I would have had no doubts, it goes really very much in a similar direction
    • Nose
The Bunna starts right away with a full load of sherry, there is a lot of chocolate, then malt, then apple followed by a hint of banana, it gets greasy, it is also quite musty, the smoke is really not very strong and just is to find in the smoked bacon, some sulfur, every time I smell a different aroma pops out at me, now the PX strikes full, raisins, cocoa, it gets sweeter, a fresh, minty impression can also be found, now it has too more acid, which brings us back to malt, very changeable
    • Taste
Oily, full-bodied, sweet, wow, intense, sticky, PX, raisins, caramel, chocolate, I just have to think about Glen Els from the profile, light smoke on the palate that is getting stronger
    • Finish
the smoke is now ashy and more dominant, still sweet, creamy, a little chocolate, medium-long and very pleasant

He shares destiny with many other peated whisky that has been "sunk" by an independent bottler for some time in a sherry keg: hard on the too much limit. Blindly, I would not have recognized Bunna here, the sherry keg is very dominant and unmistakably sets the stamp on whisky. The sample I had was pretty good for slipping away, but I could not give myself a whole bottle of it; the drinking distances should be so great that I would probably have finished the whisky in the end.
    • Nose

Dried and sulphured plums, red grapes, raisin bread. A not so intense smoky note that lays pleasantly around the aforementioned aromas. Mild spice note.
    • Taste
      86 86
Creamy onset with a now much more intense smoke than in the nose. Black cherries, plums, raisins. Slightly peppery. Sweet licorice. The malt is sweet and just scratching on the red line too sweet.
    • Finish
      85 85
Medium long, with sweet fruits and a mentholy note. The initially intense smoke on the tongue has now completely disappeared, absorbed by juicy, sweet, red fruits.

I would not say "This Bunna was PXed to death", but that he can tolerate a teaspoon of water. At least that's what I thought last night.

After a long time I poured the pipe Bunna from Bonn again ... Tasty tasty. Currently 89 points, but the trend is rising.

  8. ARDBERG scored this whisky 81 points Connoisseur

This Bunna was PXed to death, for my taste:

hardly noticable as a whisky anymore, more a stronger PX sherry

as such and, boy, it's sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

The intensity is great and keeps my rating just above 80.

This is not a whisky whisky. The notes in the smell are so intense that it's almost too much, like a rock concert - on the edge of pain. In the mouth to the finish then he is very sweet. There is little subtle to find, but all notes are very direct. iDad would have called that a porn whisky. ;-)
    • Nose
First there is an intense smell of plums, followed directly by bunnahabhain motor oil, then sweeter fruit notes like strawberry and raspberry, but also some currant, underlined by a fine oak note, a hint of smoke.
    • Taste
Gentle, sweet start, red fruits, more strawberries, raspberry, only the currant leaves, then it gets sharper, sweet and sour chilli sauce, the dominated PX sherry, slightly raisins, some wood and a pale memory of leather.
    • Finish
The sweet fruits fade only slowly and reluctantly make room for a delicate oak note, again outlined with a distant note of smoke.

If you really sweet, smoked ham sandwiches ..... is just right!
    • Nose
Screwed the bottle on and my first thought was smoked ham bread with pineapple. In the glass, the smoke is much weaker. It is a very pleasant, sweet, wood-burning smoke. Dark, damn sweet, sherry fruit flavors move forward. Forest berries, leather and some cigar tobacco. Salted peanuts. The sweet smoke is above all else. There is almost no trace of alcohol.
    • Taste
There it is .... the sugar sweet, smoked ham sandwich. It's so awesome how cute the story is. Oily and slightly spicy. Somewhat nutty with chocolate. The 50% are ideal here!
    • Finish
Long, creamy and warm. Coffee comes after.

A really interesting drop, to which I know immediately no comparison. A sweet, creamy smoke and salt. In the taste like a sweet herbal candy after a whistle. I like it very much, just because it has something special.
In addition, the alcohol compared to the last pipe Bunna very well involved, the 50% are better chosen.
    • Nose
very interesting! From the first second the smoke fights with the thick-creamy sherry. After smelling the sample, I expected more smoke. I feel no alcohol, the MaLt is even comparatively restrained. Smoke, roasted nuts, prunes, raisins, smoked ham, salt, coffee (with salt ???). Amazingly, the smoke is getting stronger now. The PX barrel makes it extremely heavy and creamy. Now dominated again the sherry, dark berries, leather, very dry log.
Sweet smoke, that is very fascinating and incomparable with other Bunnas. The nose is very deep, moving pleasantly between sugared berries, salt and smoke. Towards the end, a few orange slices are added, which dry on the fireplace.
    • Taste
very sweet, then clear power, smoke, sugary berries, spicy chocolate, salted bacon, coffee, salted almonds, creamy again sweet
    • Finish
very sweet, oak with faded smoke, tart herbs, salt, pepper, nuts, sweet dessert cream, a hint of coffee, medium length

    • Nose
Smoldering campfire. Sweet raspberries, peaches, lemons and a hint of salt behind. Then some pepper, leather and old dry wood.
    • Taste
Spicy. Espresso beans in chocolate, then sweeter with sugared strawberries. Some pepper and smoky ashes. Medium.

A very interesting combination. Bunnahabhain, Refill Hogshead & PX Sherry and then heavily peated. The great peat nose is fantastic, the flavor is dominated by tart oak and of course peat. Fine, fine, I like it very much.
    • Nose
Strong and deep dark, the amber shimmers out of the glass. The amber turns orange with a reddish glow. Long and oily streaks are slowly walking back down the glass wall. A great sight!
A wonderful peat note immediately mixes with fruity and sweet sherry flavors. The peat becomes more and more intense over time and then completely overrides the sherry flavors. Dark berries try in vain to blaze a trail through the sweet peat aroma, a subtle hint of smoke is noticeable. The alcohol starts to tickle my nose slowly, I imagine smelling orange flavors. I can smell for hours on this sweet and fruity peat nose.
    • Taste
Oak flavors dominate the first impression before the full load of peat discharges in the mouth. Short comes fruity sweetness through the spicy wood, then only peat follows. Slowly, tart oak tones are noticeable, a walnut aroma mixes with the now bitter peat. Wet leaves and earthy notes crowd through a subtle hint of smoke, a mixture of peat and harsh wood now dominates the taste.
    • Finish
Dry and dry, the finish begins. Spicy oak notes and fine peat flavors are zealous, a slightly bitter nut flavor is above all else. Again wet leaves and earthy forest soil. Again and again, fruity sweetness penetrates through the tart notes. The finish sounds slow and leaves a bitter aroma.

excellent and exactly my taste, actually needs no water, very harmonious in a positive sense and this with the necessary severity
    • Nose
Roasting chestnuts, smoky BBQ sauce on spare ribs, sugar beet syrup, the smoke is not Islay typical but is expressed in strong toasted notes, roasted almonds and hazelnuts, dusty-woody-sweet, with water Chalk and new leather, woody
    • Taste
heavy and mouth-filling, at the same time soft and pleasant, the smoke retains, brown sugar, becoming spicier
    • Finish
wonderfully balanced, neither the smoke nor the heavy PX barrel gain the upper hand, medium in the finish and later slightly herbaceous on the cheeks

Optical: really nice reddish copper tone. Nose: What I perceive is ripe plum, is a ripe fig, all a little bit tart, like a plum jam. The Mus got a dash of dark chocolate, a little pink berry. And then there is a nice smoke and a subtle alcoholic touch. In the mouth it tingles immediately. The alcohol is not unpleasant for me though. The fruity prevails immediately, also here remains the nose of the nose. But to a little bitterness of the wood, as if the green walnut had given a little too much bitter substances. Also a nice leathery flavor. And a really nice smokiness. And the subtle smokiness remains with the sweetness and the woodiness.

At the age of ten he actually took everything a whisky needs. And despite the strong influence of the PX sherry, it is unmistakably a Bunnahabhain. Although he can not beat his predecessor - a Bunnahabhain from the Oloroso and Bordeaux barrels - but with his mild smoke and the heavy sherry influence he is at least equal to him. Once again a very excellent whisky of this small and rather unknown German bottler, of which a lot is to be expected.
    • Nose
Very nice spicy smoke, which has nothing phenolic of the southern island brothers but rather bonfires on the beach, then like sweet heavy PX aromas, cane sugar and an old greasy leather bag from the beach, which still sticks to a sandy salt crust and barnacles. Dark aromatic dried fruits, light sulfur aromas and sweet pipe tobacco. That's where I find everything I love about Bunnahabhain! With a little water, juicy citrus fruits are added.
    • Taste
Powerful, the strong alcohol swallows everything with full power over the tongue, much leathery spice, dry smoke, an oily sweetness, dark fruits, grapefruit, raisins, exotic spices, strong tart wood notes - all very intense and full-bodied!
    • Finish
In the long finish, it sounds warming with mild smoke, a dark fruit cocktail, some juicy grapefruit and beautiful oak notes.
