The smell pleases, although he is not particularly complex. Unfortunately, the slight alcohol touch bothers something despite only 40%.
In the mouth you do not notice the alcohol, again lacks some depth, but the impression is harmonious.
The finish fits the overall impression.

I can drink the whiskey with pleasure, even if he lacks the tension. The famous Irish gentleness I search here but in vain.
    • Nose
Peach, behind it a little cherry, caramel, a little grassy, slightly alcoholic note
    • Taste
Light body, cool medium onset, quite sweet, again peach, malt, delicate bitterness, light touch of wood, grapes
    • Finish
A little more oak, again peach, caramel, tart beer, quite long

Much better than the standard Jameson bottling. PLV top. Typical entry-level whiskey.

    A decent Irish.

      Interesting nose.
Roasted nuts and a lot more sherry than usual for Irish.
    • Taste
      83 83
      Round and almost creamy.
Not full on sherry, but some sweet red fruit mixed with nutty chocolate notes.
      Fair amount of all spice.
    • Finish

      Just short of medium lenght.
Mild, nutty, on the sweet side.

  5. Islaysmoke scored this whisky 81 points Expert Junior

Typical Jameson, but with a little more sherry flavors and a lot of bourbon sweetness (vanilla). In the taste creamy vanilla caramel and again sherry flavors. Finish is medium long, a bit oily. Vanilla stays for a long time. Maybe not the most complex Jameson, but highly recommended.

    Alcohol: 40%
Aroma: Classic scent, a little wood, cedar. In a blind test, I could guess bourbon. (75 pts)
Taste: Taste sweet, slightly woody, surprisingly pleasant. Vanilla, liquorice, cocoa, honey. (80 pts)
    Points: 78
Summary: It's not exactly my cup of coffee because of perfume, but it's not really bad in the end. Tasted at a family party.

Select Reserve are the key words, and cask batches since 2013 are showing a broad inconsistency [on WB]. Matured in sherry & bourbon casks, its reported [on the tinter-web] to have a high proportion of Irish pot still & small batch grain whiskey?! What does that mean - 50/50? Or less?

N: No smoke whatsoever. I soon tire of the vanilla-driven spirit after the fruits have lifted away.

T: A lovely soft mouthfeel. The main story is one of a soft & predictable bourbon-vanilla youthful spirit-led journey, but the honeyed mouthfeel keeps some interest alive.

F: Simple yet lingering, the caramel appears very obvious now like a thick blanket coat on top. Bitter vanilla notes [E150a?] conclude.

C: Fairly simple inoffensive dram. The mouthfeel is the only clear highlight.

    Scores a C-

it's not the same as Special Reserve, or maybe I had a worse batch.

The taste was quite flat compering to the other.
