Whisky Reviews for Pride of Orkney 12-year-old GM

  1. St. Pauli scored this whisky 80 points Connoisseur

The nose is actually quite interesting and a bit old school. The rest isn't that great. It's quite flat, with some flaws.
    • Nose
More obvious on peat than another Pride of Orkney that I tasted. It's old school "twiggy" peat: heather and licorice shine trhough, together with the smoky character. There is also a slight hay stack farminess in there that can be associated with Highland Park. Then there is honeyed malt and apricot. Not utterly complex, but nice.
    • Taste
Hmmm, some off notes of cardboard dominate. Water helps, but it kills the strength and it gets a bit soapy after a while. This is not an easy dram. Better without water. It offers pepper, burnt hay, coal smoke and licorice.
    • Finish
Rather short and quite flat. There is smoke, licorice, maybe a bit heather, pepper and then it's gone.
