    Nose:
Smoke, sulphur, menthol, berries, the smell of a bonfire of last night. It is about the maximum of peat which I can handle. The sulphur notes fade away over time. Probably oxidisation will help.

    Taste:
Fruity, little ginger, oranges, tangerines, other fruits, little on the sour side. There is a fade smokiness in here.

    Body:
A bit oily, generally it is a medium bodied whisky.

    Finish:
medium-long. Sweet and sour are fighting to become prominent. More tangerines, some wood, which gets more prominent at the end of the finish.

    Price:
I bought this for under €40,- which I would not recommend to exceed.

    Presentation:
    Nice and decent.

Aroma: open, calm, immediately varied tones of wood - old lacquered furniture, sawdust, wood dust, walnut husks and kernels, bark, very light notes of burnt wood and ash, malt, plum jam with light touches.

Taste: dense, caramel sweetness, porter, a lot of spices and tannins of oak, walnut and astringent partitions, sweet orange liquor, spicy zest from it.

Finish: medium length, the same pleasant nut-oak astringency as in the taste, zest, prunes, bittersweet, oily.

    Rating: 84

Bottom line: an unusual finish, not at all like the usual wine barrels, walnuts are met at all stages and very energetic. I liked it, it turned out to successfully cut young spirits, but of course I’ll put the base 10 a notch.

    Delicious! Exactly my prey scheme.
    • Nose
Spicy. Hearty. Concealed smoke. Intense first impression. Heavy dark sweetness. Complex nose that takes a lot of time.
    • Taste
Strong start. A lot of oak. At first pretty dry. Hearty smoke. Then always sweeter. Nice coffee notes on the palate.
    • Finish
Very sweet and mild. Little smoke.

I have to deduct a couple of points here for the sulphur, but the palate is top notch. If not for the slightly burnt edge it has on the nose, this would've been a really succesful finish.
    • Nose
The first I notice is a subtle wood smoke with a bit too much sulphur (slightly burnt), which throws it a bit off-balance. Cinnamon and blueberries, slightly acidic. A hint of vanilla and lime. Interesting.
    • Taste
Oily, nice! Cherry syrup, plums, milk chocolate, raspberries. Slightly spicy (cloves). Very rich in flavour. The subtle Benromach-peat smoke pops in right at the end.
    • Finish
Lightly peated, ending on a sweet note. Some tannins.
