    Light ginger. Thin medium legs.
At first, quite hot on the nose. buttered ginger cake, butterscotch toffee. fresh furniture polish. Quite a lot of Spanish oak on the nose. then comes the fruit and nut: dried apricots and raw almonds. With water more ginger and more damp. Damp wood forest eucalyptus and tobacco. much better with water.
Palate: Linseed and macadamia oil, toasted rye bread, ground coffee, 80% coca powder. Quite viscous. Then gets chalky.
Finish: Dark chocolate ginger snaps. a little raisiny at the end never gets to that sweet current finish one would assume but still an excellent sherry cask whisky. Very long lasting. Water ruins the taste though.

At Passion for whisky Adelphi Tasting in september 2016. A bold and heavy sherried beast.
    • Nose

A raw and leather start. Dry and salty. Beefstock, also dutch 'maggie'. Walnuts and pecan. Espresso and mocha. Some citruss, but the chocolate sherry overpowers it.
    • Taste
      88 88
Dark chocolate, more in the mousse kind of than the raw nose. Beef jerky and other meaty products like again soup this time oxtail. The sweet fruit is just from some orange. The cacao is more prominent.
    • Finish
      87 87
Dry dark chocolate, woodspices, coffeesweets and brownsugar.

this is how a heavy sherried whisky should be!

nose: burned wood, oxtail soup, sherry, charcoal, cocoa, mocha, more sherry, strawberry,

taste: full and explosive: warm and full, quite thick and meaty

finish: long and lasting. concentrated fruit syrup.

typical sherry-whisky-representative in the old age with dark raisins and a good portion of bitter oak in the taste.
The icing on the cake is missing

The nose is good, but the taste and finish not so much.
    • Nose
Deep sherry notes with stewed prunes, cherries, strawberries, orange zest. A very fruity profile, but there is also chocolate, coffee, oak and, sadly, alcohol.
    • Taste
Sweet, rich sherry, dark chocolate, cherries, oranges, coffee beans. Quite sharp and spicy, feels younger than it really is.
    • Finish
Quite long, but rather harsh. The sweetness fades rapidly and gives place to peppery burning. Too hot.
