    • Nose
      Blind Sample:

      Colour:
      Amber

      Nose:
First comes slightly phenolic smoke. Juniper. Then some leather, pickled sour cherries, raspberries and artificial wood flavor. Has something of Deoroller with cedar. With a bit of time in the glass, the chick becomes a bit more musty. Brackish seawater, fermented bright fruits. Spices are getting through better and a very pleasant sweetness. Has something of sugared baked apple. But then it gets saltier again and has something of warm must. The alcohol is very cloudy.
    • Taste
Smoky, slightly watery onset. A pinch of pepper and herbs. In the taste more "forest". Like breathing in the damp forest. Braised plastic and espresso. Dark, unripe berries. Something mineral and also metallic. A certain sweetness is playing along. Licorice and some kind of gummy bear.
    • Finish
Short to medium. Nutty bitterness. Some mens chocolate and sweetened, warm espresso. With roasted aromas.

Immediately after opening the bottle, this whisky was a bitter disappointment. Boring and musty. But since I had tried it somewhere else before and found to be good, I gave the bottle a lot of time and air, which was worth it. Meanwhile, the bottle is almost 18 months open and only half full.
For me an ideal whisky for beginners. Interesting to die for and you can keep that in your mouth for a very long time.

Spicy, sweet, citrus, malt, tannins, light smoke, plums, nutmeg, lemongrass, beetroot, white pepper, sourdough
    • Taste

mild, some salt, weak sweetness, wood smoke, nutty, tart honey, prunes, dates, woody, becoming slightly bitter
    • Finish
      83 83
medium long, woody bitter, camp fire smoke, light sherry

They put the bag on the sherry. It goes very nicely with a relatively light, deep, fairly intense, smoky peat. A zest of lemon, currant juice, some woody reflections, earth, blackberries and blackcurrants. Humus, like in the forest. In the mouth it is rather fresh, leather, dried fig, pear compote, honey, cinnamon, liquorice, nutmeg, spices. Slightly acid finish with lemon which comes out a little, dry, admittedly long but a little bitter. Asparagus it seems to me. Dark chocolate.

I'm having a hard time with smoky. Basically, I have it apart on the older where the smoke is already broken down a bit. 9 years are actually too young for me. But in a nice round with good company you do not say no. So he gets a chance.
I must first admit, price performance of the hammer!
    • Nose

He starts with fruity sherry nose. Oranges, nutty with dried plums. A mild smoke hangs in damp paper with some roasted coffee mingling in the nose. Hola ... rather reserved and friendly to the nose. That's how I feel smoky too. Fine.
    • Taste
      81 81
Instant salty sea breeze in the mouth. There is still some vanilla / lemon hidden behind the now stronger smoke. Now I miss a little the sherry-barrel. Too bad, because of the nose I would have expected more. But he pushes neatly.
One of the young wild ones, but not so bad.
    • Finish
      82 82
OK, medium long finish. But even here he shows no weakness by the tender age. He's got a boom, boom! The 15 is still much more dear to me and his age also predictable.

The nose is extremely fruity and mild. The extreme cherry flavors are impressive and delicious. However, the Bowmore's flavor is flat, with the typical bowmoroms coming into their own. In the finish, the malt picks up speed and exudes its powerful and warming aroma for a long time. I like it very much!
    • Nose
A rusty brown with a reddish glow shines the Bowmore in the glass. While tough and oily drops dissolve out of the streaks sticking to the glass wall, intense cherry flavor rises from the glass. At the same moment, the sweet and fruity impression changes into a salty and mineral sea aroma. Shortly thereafter, fruity cherries and dark berries dominate, adding a hint of milk chocolate before a subtle column of smoke rises from the extremely fruity nose. A subtle cinnamon and clove flavor makes the fruit notes appear spicy.
    • Taste
Dark and discreetly bitter wood elements dominate the first sip. Cold smoke and fading embers dissolve from the now rather watery-looking Bowmore. Ash and burned rubber mix with dark and dried berries, creamy spreads a touch of milk chocolate over the tongue. A minty freshness is distributed on dried tobacco leaves, black pepper releases a subtle pungency and heats slowly but surely to the palate. The tart wood notes are intensified, again a creamy and buttery sweetness comes to light.
    • Finish
The subtle, now wooden sharpness fills the mouth still with a plump warmth. Tart wood elements dominate the finish, a hint of tobacco and cold smoke come into their own. The fruity sweetness of the nose is discreetly in the background. Slowly, the cold ash comes to the fore and exudes a slightly bitter and pungent aroma.

Very nice whisky and for it's price I think it is "bang for your buck". It will not be anybody's friend because of the bitterness.
    • Nose

Without water 82 but after adding 1 drop of water, because it is only 40% so much more would spoil it, it opened up some more and became 84 for me.

Lots to discover in the taste, odd flavours, sit back and search your experiance what is in here. I can have this one in the mouth for few minutes without getting bored.

Nice finish too, I like the bitterness.

Surprisingly good and always better at the end. A picnic with Chorrizo is even a heavenly treat!

I find it a bit weak in the nose. You don't notice anything of the bourbon barrels there. On the palate and in the finish, it can certainly convince with a good complexity for the age
    • Nose

Bowmore typical nose, light smoke, maritime salty, light sherry aromas, spicy.
    • Taste
      86 86
Creamy, slightly sweet with a hint of dark fruits, a little vanilla and caramel, later on with sherry notes and the slightly salty tangy. Smoke only very subtle.
    • Finish
      86 86
dark fruits, sherry, sweet, vanilla, slightly spicy, light smoke in the background. Getting a bit drier towards the end.
